I don't get this at all!

Regarding the e-mail i sent to them asking what the address is, i've just now recieved an e-mail saying:

Quote:

Good evening Mr. ********,

Thanks for your email to Vodafone about the procedure for the cancellation of your account. We're sorry to know that you wish to leave Vodafone.

Don't let this be goodbye!

You've told us you want to leave Vodafone, and I'd like to confirm we've received your request. For cancellation of your number we require 30 days notice. As per your request I have scheduled your number for cancellation on 14th July 2008.

You'll receive a confirmation letter within the next 5-7 working days.

We'll be in touch over the next few days to go over the final details of your account. (Look out for the call, the number will start 08080).

Also, there is no need to send a letter separately for the cancellation.

We want you to stay!

Mr. ********, please call us free from your Vodafone mobile on 191 and we’ll do everything we can to help. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm every day or you can call us from any phone on 08700 700 191. Calls to Vodafone will be charged at your service providers standard rates and may be monitored

Let us know why you're leaving. We often have special offers available to existing customers like you, so give us a call on the above numbers and we'll give you plenty of reasons to stay with Vodafone.

I trust I was able to help you with the cancellation of your account. If there is anything else I can assist you with Mr. Goodyear, please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Shruti Moon

Vodafone Customer Services
So, i've been told twice that i have to send a letter off to cancel, and now they send me an e-mail to confirm the account will be closed in 30 days, without sending them a letter!

I've written the letter out, and i had planned to send it off on monday, should i still send this off, or shall i ring them to find out what they are playing at?

This looks exactly the way things happened for malc, so I wouldn't be too worried. I would recommend that you wait until next week when you receive the letter from Vodafone confirming the cancellation and then take out the new contract, just to be on the safe side.

Then, when you have the contract, call Vodafone again and ask them for the PAC code - tell them you already have a contract with another network and wish to port your number immediately and that you will still pay up until the end of the 30 days - I think you actually pay the monthly rental in advance, i.e. you pay at the end of the month for next month's rental so probably they will end up owing you money after cutting you off on 14/07 - that's the way it happened for me twice.

Thanks for the advice :)

Time to read up on de-branding now, as i've read Orange firmware on the N82 (or any N-Series) is awfull! I suppose i can live with it if need be.

a slightly different position as I'm outside any Vodafone tie-in but I phoned 191 this week to get my PAC code and there was no problem. Just the usual begging, please don't leave etc, we'll give you a great deal, but they were very nice and accomodating about it.

Having said that, I'm still waiting for the PAC in the post and they have rang me 3 times since with the offer of "best deals" etc. but I got my phone unlocked last week too and have my new deal lined up.

They rang me this morning asking why i wanted to cancel, and they asked me if they could do anything to make me stay. I politly said no, and they said i wont recieve anymore phonecalls. I then requested the PAC code again, this time he said ok. I forgot to ask how i recieve it, but i'm guessing it will be by post?

I now know that my cancellation via e-mail has worked, so i think i'll go ahead and order my n82 from orange.

Do Organge let you cancel in the first 30 days if you are unhappy? I'm not entirely sure what the signal is going to be like. My dads on orange, and he gets between 2-4 bars of strength in the house, usually not 3G on his 6600 slide. On my vodafone n95, i got full 3g signal in the same place.

they will send you out the PAC by letter after dragging it out for a bit, no reason why they can't give it over the phone and probably would if pushed. I also got a PAYG PAC recently and they just gave me it there and then on the phone.

You will have 14 days under distance selling regs, unless you buy it in one of their shops.

I've got the contract now, got it cheaper in the shop than their "buy it online and get it cheaper" deal! You don't get unless you ask!

Signal seems fine so it's all good. Personally, when i change from the orange theme to another, put the active standby as the s60 one, then arrange a few folders, i can't see any difference from my un-branded N95-2 to my Orange branded N82.

Just waiting for my PAC code from vodafone. I think i'll keep ringing them to give it to me over the phone. They keep ringing me asking why i'm cacnelling too, even though they said they wouldnt! I just said i've got a new contract now, and they practically hung up haha.

A little further update:

Rang vodafone, they said my PAC code is already posted, but they gave it to me over the phone anyways. Asked how much i needed to pay to cancel, and i don't even need to pay the months line rental, wich i thought i may have to. Result!
