.aac LOUDER !

Hi Guys

I have converted a .wav file to .aac and also tried MP4, to use as a text alert tone. It all works ok, but is a little quiet. Is there an easy route to getting the volume up ? - I used 'Super' to convert it BTW.

Many thanks
Steve

Try using a live recorder like " total recorder" to record as you play over the PC. You have lot's of volume and DB options to raise as you wish/

Doing it that way is unecessarily time consuming unless you want to do only the 1 track. Google for a volume booster there is software that will take it and boost the volume for you.

Horses for Courses innit.
IMO it's easy as. Download a program, turn volume level on program up , press record play the mp3. Once it's finished Click Save As. Job done.

I just open the file in Sound Recorder on Windows. There you can raise the volume and save it.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder

Have you tried?

I appreciate that you want to convert/amplify an aac. but have you considered using an MP3? I've used mp3gain for years with good results. The best bit is it's totally FREE.
you can make your mp3s louder with no loss of quality.
(you can apparently use the software to do the same with an AAC. file but i've never used it for that and don't know if it works as well as the mp3 bit)

It's an old program now but it's a goodie!

Google is your friend!

(or use this link MP3Gain )

Hope this is helpfull

Thanks for all the suggestions. Although windows recorder was the easiest option, it distorted the sound quite a lot. Mp3 gain did the trick.

Cheers
Steve
