N95 Predictive Text question
Hi All ,,
ok got an N95 8Gb and the predictive text annoys me sometime...
when i got the phone first i expected to input some words or acronyms which is fine however what i didnt expect was that what i entered would take precedence over the more commonly used input combo ....
Ok ,, For example ,, i have typed 2,7,3 to get "are" but later i needed to use the acronym CSE ... after inputting this to the dictionary every time i want "are" it comes up cse ,,,, this has happened with other words and is now wrecking my head ......
Is there a way to select the first option which appears on your predictive text ?

The only solution I have found, I have this issue to, was to delete the file. Somewhere on these forums I think it details how to do this.
I would like to know how to re-order preferences as I too have some that I use fairly often that have taken priority over ones I use constantly.

Zerol try this mate.
* Open a new message.
* Type in the word it gets "wrong" (such as "wmv"). Press the "*" until the word you *want* is displayed (such as "you").
* Type in a space with the "0" key.
* Repeat steps 2 & 3 until it gets the correct word first time. It usually takes 3 or 4 goes, but it could be more!
Finally, close the message (& delete it) then create a new message and try the word once more. It should now be back to normal!
Repeat the whole thing for each problematic word.
Doesn't work for me but others are saying it does for them.

I'm pretty sure the limit is 8k and it works on a first-in-first-out

Update Final Update
Got it sorted ,,
used FExplorer to find the C:\predic\ folder .. Copied the file within it to Documents folder on the memory card...
used my nokia phone browser to copy the file to my laptop and opened it in note pad..
you need to take the text wrap off on notepad too..
did a Ctrl and F in notepad to bring up the text find ,, entered the words that was appearing and annoying me on the phone , it finds it ,, deleted them from the file ,, save file and then back into phone browser ,, cut the file back on to the memory card ,, then FExplorer on the phone to cut the file back into C:\Predic .... it overwrites it and happy days !!!
Hope this helps ...

Hi Zerol, please be aware that what you have just described has the effect of wiping your entire dictionary, not just the word you deleted.
I spent a few days studying the format of that file with a view to writing a dictionary editor, but it contains a checksum and I couldn't work out how to calculate it.
When the phone sees that the checksum is wrong (which it will be when you edit it manually) the entire dictionary is reset.
In other words, it's a lot easier just to delete that file from the phone.

Until you use the word again and then it starts all over! Does this contain all words? Or just your custom ones?
