This is a rather interesting phone. the resemblance to the phone is only skin deep. inside the phone, the sound quality is much better to mine (and im using the latest firmware, it has Much Better speakers installed)

there is no 3G, no 5mp camera (3mp camera supplied).

the main selling point of this phone, is that it supports dual sim.. which is the only main reason people is buying this phone. the remarkable thing about it, is tht you can use 2 different sims at the same time. ie: u can use orange and o2 at the same time.

behind the phone, underneath the battery, you can slot in 2 sim cards. the when the phone starts, it will initiate the sim card one by one.. when both sim cards are initialized, you can see there are 2 network indicators above, top left of the screen. both lines are active! when there is an incoming call on sim 1, you can pick it up.. and talk.. while talkning, if there is an incoming call on sim2, it will be on call-waiting.. COOL HUH..

and guess how much these phones cost? USD150 only! and the talk time is 8 hrs, and they provide u with desktop charger, AND a spare battery!!!!

It's important to not that this is in NO way a Nokia device. It should not for any reason be called "China's N95".

Absolutely. For the avoidance of doubt, the "Chinese N95" is the Nokia N95-5 RM-245. It is the same size and shape as a regular N95 but has a cut down feature set (e.g. no Wi-fi), but does not have a touch screen.

This is a Chinese FAKE. Dual SIM could be very useful, but it will not have a Symbian OS and many of the N95 features, even those not omitted from the Chinese N95-5 RM-245, may be missing.

Interesting that the Chinese fake has no Nokia branding on the fascia. I noticed a bunch of Chinese fakes for sale on eBay this weekend being passed off as the real thing, and they're exactly the same phone as this, but with the Nokia brandmark on the small bar between the screen and the keypad.

They were also showing Nokia welcome screens like this one. Obviously not the Symbian OS though. I'd be interested to know what the actual OS on the fake functions like.

Yep thats the NOKLA fake N95. It has nothing to do with Nokia at all, you cant even use Nokia PC Suite with it.

Dual sim would be so useful. I've always wondered if such a device existied. I would have to be aimed soley at the sim-free market; No UK network would subsidise the cost of a phone that could be used on another network.

Living and working in a National park, Networks are not allowed to put masts up where they should ideally be sited.

In a small 15 mile area covering 4 local towns, the 4 UK networks all work, but T mobile doesn't cover one village and Voda doesn't work in another....etc.. On the roads between, Orange and 02 don't work.

Having 2 SIMs active would be a huge bonus. Historically, I've used twin-sim adaptors, but these are either/or. That said, with stated 99% coverage for the main networks across the UK, I doubt there will be much demand beyond us few hill-walkers in our little black spots...

Dual sim adapters were commonplace for older Nokia phones, such as the 5110.

The networks are working toward mast sharing, but they've been talking about it for 10 years.

the interesting thing about this phone, is that it is not branded nokia.. there is no mention of Nokia anywhere on the phone, except for the start up and shut down.. but it can be changed at the settings.. there is even sony-ericsson startup and shutdowns, as well as windows vista, xp etc..

on the box, the brand is just N95.. plain N95 with no mention to nokia..

the dual sim is not like the dual sims u normally see in the market. both lines are active at the same time. the adapters u can get on ebay, would only have 1 active line at 1 time.. this has 2 active lines at the same time..

the actual brand of this phone, is 'Dual Sim Card Phone' (translated directly from chinese language. no english name for the brand). they have many different shape and sizes, with outer appearance similar to N95, to sony ericson's latest models.. even Samsung phones! but all using the same 'non-symbian' OS. OS used is similar to SE's P990i's OS.
