FlipSilent 1.04
Released to donators. Just got the e-mail. Nice to see the addition of the end call slider down function like ShutUp.

Nice to see it, but a shame to see he is directly copying Samir's developements :(

I admit would be nice to see something different to ShutUp but what did you expect!? People on Tong Ren's forum were requesting the slide down to end call function after hearing about ShutUp. So its unsurprising he's added support, just for the FlipSilent followers.

Well soon Samir will have to copy his developments. Once one program comes out doing it many programs will appear doing the same.

I have to disagree with you. I think that's the wrong attitude to have personally. I'm as big a fan of Samir's work as the next person. But its like saying you have no respect for other companies that make OS's different to Windows, or Office products, that essentially do the same thing.
He has my respect for listening to what FlipSilent fans wanted and applying those changes.
I actually prefer ShutUp as it stands, but credit where credit is due. He pushed FlipSilent out before Samir, and it worked just fine at what it was supposed to do, now he's improving on it.
All it means for us, the end user, is good times ahead because friendly competition is good.

how can you guys possibly consider his program a copy of shutup??? This idea - an accelerometer based program that silences your phone, isn't a unique one, long before I had heard about either of these programs I thought (and I'm sure others did also) that it would be cool if there was a program like this. Its like that other thread about the company sueing every phone maker over smartphones - a accelerometer program isnt the exclusive property of samir.

That's where we're not meeting eye to eye then.. You compare this situation to a high end, high competition market, where new products/services are jumped on by all the big names as soon as physically possible.
I actually consider this to be very different, in the fact that neither of these chaps are doing this for the money and are considered as very low end developers compared to some of the bigger names out there. At this level, there is (And always has been) a great level of respect and consideration between these developers, whether they are connected in their work or not. But this form of etiquitte seems to have been lacked here, and that's why I feel a little strongly about the matter

^^^Well, I know for certain that I won't bite the hand that feeds, and flipsilent is way better than shutup (maybe shutup doesn't work on any n82), and came out earlier. And what gives you any indication that these two developers don't respect eachother? Perhaps they both produce awsome products that push eacothers to be even better next go round.

The fact that Samir has specifically become more discreet about his upcoming developements tells me he definitely does not appreciate his ideas being taken. It is also quite obvious that the newest additions in this release of FlipSilent have been directly copied from Samir's application. Don't get me wrong, I'll most likely use FlipSilent until ShutUp can exceed itself in some way but my views on the developers will stay the same. If anything, these guys are doing it to show their own developement skills, and as part of being a developer, you need ideas to develop something. Using someone elses ideas like this just makes it look as if he is trying to steal the limelight, rather than just to provide what the public want. This is expressed even more with this latest release, as he has copied something that we now, already have.
