First of all I would like to express that this application is great! I have no doubt that this will be VERY popular amongst the thousands of
N95 users around the world. It is only in beta form currently and is still being worked on, but predicted to be comercially released later this month!
The main new feature of automatically switching between portrait and landscape (And vise-versa) is what I am focusing on. This feature is currently only availible to
N95 users but the original basis of the application has been kept for compatibility with older s60 3rd Edition devices
The feature itself works extremely well, working best on the phones own user interface. Switching view whilst viewing photos or videos or using the maps application for example, are dealt with at ease and with good speed, but currently the application has a few problems with switching whilst using java applications and results in quite a slow transaction
Generally the time it takes to switch from one view to another is very good though, and you are literally looking at a one second manuever when changing
The application has been designed well around its practical usability - Switching view only when tilted at roughly a 50° angle, allowing ample rotation of the phone without triggering the feature - Meaning you won't end up 'accidentally' switching from one view to the other just from texting your friend whilst swinging in a hammock
As for the application itself, it currently installs at less than 15Kb in size after signing, and uses an absolute minimal amount of RAM making this a very durable addition to the phones UI
As a conclusion, this really is an exceptional piece of work and provides a great new feature to the
N95. Definitely the first to make a well needed practical use of the recently implemented accelerometer. Currently only a beta version, this will be updated from time to time in the next few weeks but I shall keep this thread running with updates on the application as I recieve them
