Yeah, but i was thinking normal (1/4mile) accelerometers don't have gps... ;)
You'll get a start point with the gps, the sensitivity of the accelerometer could kick off the timing when you hit the gas and the gps could measure a 1/4mile from its start point.
Might not be as accurate as dedicated 1/4mile timers, but i think it'd be pretty close.
Plus i'm sure some clever chap could also code it up with a horsepower calc built in etc if you keyed in basic figures like car weight etc.
I'm no expert, but i'd regard that as a true killer app! Something the phone can offer that no other phone can do!
