REVIEW/Q&A: Scosche Bluetooth receiver with A2DP

Focusing on the multimedia features of the N95, I bring you a way to output the stereo bluetooth audio from your N95 to your car stereo in stunning digital quality. The Scosche BlueLife System™-

I'm currently in my first week's use of this device. The kit contains a battery powered bluetooth transmitter with a standard 3.5mm plug to interface with any device sporting a headphone output. For our purposes with the N95, this item is of no importance, though it is nice to have the option of using any device not equiped with bluetooth. The bluetooth receiver has two RCA audio inputs that can be pluged into any compatible car stereo with RCA inputs on the rear of the deck or the front auxillary input, if you're lucky enough like me to have one in your auto. There are other options depending upon your vehicle and stereo you might need to investigate. The receiver also has a 3.5mm jack for a wired microphone- a wireless microphone is included in some packages.

The receiver operates with the bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), which transmits a 2 channel stereo audio stream. This provides nice clear digital audio quality.

There are several options for the Scosche BlueLife System, varying for home or car applications. Mine came with a car charger for the bluetooth transmitter and wires to connect the receiver to the car's ignition power. This allows the receiver to power up and automatically connect to the last known associated device. This process takes about four or five seconds and is very smooth. If your N95 is paired to the receiver and is set as an authorized device, everything is completely automatic an hassle free. As soon as you turn the key, your N95's audio is output to your car's stereo system with crystal clear digital quality free of wires. You're free to listen to stored music or videos on your N95, stream music and video from the Internet or make your next cellular call with the best loudspeaker you've ever heard.

When you turn of your vehicle the N95 is automatically disconnected from the Scosche system and, if you've employed the use of one, will resume pairing with your bluetooth headset.

The home package comes with a 120v power supply for your home's AC power and will interface with your home stereo, TV or computer.

Overall, a very slick handsfree unit for your automobile capable of playing digital quality audio on your cars speakers.

Prices range from $99 USD (75 Euros) for the receiver only to $199 (150 Euros) for transmitter/receiver combos with wireless microphones for handsfree operation.

Scosche Industries : Car Audio Accessories, iPod Accessories, Bluetooth Wireless Accessories, EFX Hyperformance, Accumat Sound Damping, Soundkase audio backpacks, CD and DVD storage systems

Next up is a couple of screen protectors, a crystal clear hard shell casing, and a silicone case.

Just waiting for the DHL and UPS man. :D

Anything else you guys think I can blow my paypal balance on to review? I'd love to see an N95 specific mount for my auto. Don't care for those generic mounts with the big clunky arse padded arms. i.trek made a very nice one for my 6682. I'm gonna miss it.

Thanks for that. You can count on many more. I really want to wait until I have an N95 in my hands before too many reviews. Just so I can be 100% on interoperability and all.

Hoping that will be SOON!!

It's a German one.

The car doens't have A2DP though, the bluetooth reciever does. The car has a Sony head unit with an aux input on the front and RCAs in the back. I plug the Scosche into the RCA's in the rear and anything else in the front 3.5mm jack.

No how much better quality would a2dp be over a fm transmitter or tape deck adapter anyways?

Hmmm.. I was trying to find the exact numbers for you. Basically it's crummy radio/tape quality vs cd quality sound. I previously used an FM tuner for the PSP and my 6682, then I got a stereo with the auxillary input, now this device.

Quality is a vast improvement over the FM transmitter. :)
