ZoneTag for Flickr

Curious if anyone has used Zonetag to upload photo's onto Flickr? Pretty interesting concept and our N95's are now supported! Anyone care to share or do a review?

Let me know what ya think Dave. I had trouble uploading straight to Flickr with the included software on the N95 so ended up downloading Shozu. It's pretty straight forward and integrates with Flickr as well as various other 3rd party apps pretty well. Going to try and see how uploads are onto youtube with it later today if not tomorrow. Trying to get the hang of using VOX though, never blogged before. Any suggestions on an easy to use blogging app? Nokia's lifeblog, vox, etc?

I had a look at it as I was interested in getting my photos "geotagged". However, the approach it uses all revolves around special Flickr tags which are added to photos uploaded through its interface. These tags are based on information you supply through the settings, data from the cellular network or data from an attached GPS (or all of the above). For example, this photo has the following special tags:

geo:city=Array
geo:zip=2119
geo:country=Array
geo:lat=-33.752961
geo:lon=151.066338
cell:cgi=505-03-260-196774987

The cell tags don't work for all countries - Australia is a notable exception since that's where I live! - and the source photo doesn't get any geotag, just the one you upload to Flickr through this interface.

There is an option to continuously log your position using ZoneTag and you can upload this log and then try and apply it to the photos that you have loaded - checks the time stamp to see where you were at that time, I guess.

I dislike running extra bits of software and ZoneTag is intrusive as it pops up after every shot asking whether you want to tag and then asks whether it should upload. So two questions every time...

I use Picasa to manage my photo collection so I add geotag data to the EXIF of photos I want by using the "Geotag using Google Earth" feature, very groovy. That way my master copy of the photo - I use PC Suite Store Images to periodically move new photos to my computer and delete them from the phone - is geocoded and if I send that to Flickr then it will add the geotag automatically based on the EXIF (its an option you have to turn on in your Flickr settings).

Of course you need to remember where you took it so I am thinking about that. One approach that would be good would be to save a Landmark for each photo location but I don't know how to get these out of the phone in KML format. The other way is to run SportsTracker and export its track in KML and then open that in Google Earth for the geotag step, sweet.

Ideally though, someone will develop (and it would be great if this was in the firmware!) something that will sit quietly in the background and add the GPS position to the EXIF data of each photo that is taken. It would have settings that provide for a time range such as use the last fix if the GPS is offline provided the photo is taken within [configurable] minutes, or even use a selectable Landmark for a certain number of shots or for a certain period of time or until the camera application is stopped. That way you could select a Landmark or start GPS and save one, then take photos and have them geotagged until you close the camera.

You see, I am a dreamer!
