Question Bluetooth over SIP client

Hi Guys, does anyone know or have tried using bluetooth headset when SIP client is connected on N95 to recieve voip calls (not the normal GSM calls), as i can accept calls and do all functionalities of bluetooth on N95 when connected over GSM, but when it comes to SIP(Voip), i can't accept the call using the Bluetooth headset, any ideas?

Conflict

You will find that bluetooth and wi-fi has conflicts. You can have both connected at once without an issue, but when sending and receiving data simultaneously, one only can win. Try sending a large email via wifi while using bluetooth on a call and you'll see it then. Whip out that wired earpiece bud. There's no way around the two at this time.

Echo on Bluetooth

I am able to use VoIP with the SIP client (over WiFi) and my Nokia BH-503 headset at the same time without any issue regarding simultaneously using the WiFi and Bluetooth radios (which are on very similar frequencies admitadely).

The two problems that I do have though:

1) I can't answer an incoming VoIP call on the headset. This seems to be a known bug with the SIP client mentioned here:

Voip with SIP on Nokia E65 and Bluetooth headset - Developer Discussion Boards

2) The person at the other end hears an echo of their voice. I am not sure what is causing this but its definitely not present on a call over the cellular network with the headset and it doesn't happen when I use the Nokia handset itself, only through the headset.

Perhaps there is some echo cancelling on the phone which isn't launched when a call goes through the SIP client, or perhaps there is echo cancelling on the network side somewhere?

Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone managed to stop it?

Thanks

Simon

Echo on Bluetooth - More testing

I've done some more testing by connecting the Bluetooth headset (Nokia BH-503) to my laptop and making and receiving VoIP calls through the X-Lite SIP client.

That works fine without any echo and sort of rules out any problems with the VoIP side of things (if my VoIP setup working fine with 3 Cisco deskphones and the Nokia handset itself wasn't proof enough).

At the moment all fingers are pointing at the Nokia SIP client somehow making an echo happen. It's almost as if the Nokia SIP client is making the connection to the headset as Headphones and a Microphone rather than initiating a call with the headset. That might also explain why you can't answer an incoming VoIP call on the headset either.

Perhaps I'll try using Fring or something on my phone and see if that can give any more clues.

Thanks

Simon

Echo on Bluetooth - with Fring too

I've now tested with Fring and this also has the echo. Weird.

HBH-65 no echo

I've just done a few tests with a different headset, a Sony Ericsson HBH-65. With this headset there is no echo problem with the Nokia SIP client (or on Cellular).

Like the BH-503s this also can't answer a VoIP call with its button.

So its not Bluetooth across the board. This is getting weirder...
