PcPhone On Nokia Beta Labs

Nokia PC Phone is an experimental service that gives you a possibility to use your mobile phone with your Web Browser.

You can call, text and manage contacts from your phone.

You can communicate by using Nokia PC Phone with your friends and family even though they don't have the Nokia PC Phone themselves. Your friends are not able to tell the difference whether you are using the Nokia PC Phone or not, because your calls and text messages are actually made from your own Nokia phone.

I just found this and was going to post about it, but do I need it?
My N95 is pretty well capable of browsing the internet, making calls and sending texts.

It's just for using your phone services on your PC - So basically taking away the whole point of having a 'Mobile' ;P

I suppose it's good for simple access and viewing of all your texts etc. though, but pretty much the same as using PC Suite

Would it not be also good for using the N95 as a 'bug'?

Cue the James Bond fans.. ;-)

Can it do anything that PC Suite can't?

I did... hence why I asked...

(Wasn't having a go or anything... just wondering if there was any clear benefit to this over PC suite)

The integration into your web browser (IE or Firefox, both look the same but Firefox gives you a nice little blue phone in the top right corner, IE7's is hidden off the toolbar) is pretty good. You get a new 'page' with tabs on it for text, calls, and contacts. I've not tried making a call via the browser yet, but as someone who uses PC Suite a lot to send messages via my mobile (when I'm at home on the PC), having PC Phone give me a popup on screen/in my browser to read received messages and then reply to them ... very handy. Quicker to use than waiting for Nokia Browser/PC Suite to open up the inbox, hit reply etc.

That said, I'm having a LOT of connectivity issues with it. It seems that it's conflicting with PC Suite funnily enough :) The first time I installed it, my phone wouldn't connect to PC Phone, and neither would it connect to PC Suite any more. In the end I had to reinstall both. This time it worked, but it's 50-50 if PC Phone will connect; PC Suite seems to be having no trouble connecting.

Hope this bug gets fixed as personally, I could see me using this a lot over messaging via PC Suite.
