Keiran and anyone else, for the last time. Read before posting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keiran, have you ever used symbiansigned before? if not, the read sp00ks message above. That goes for you as well Beddy. You're just going to have to hold your horses.
If you have used symbiansigned previously your certificate and anyone else you've signed for should still be there on your symbiansigned account. Clicking on the file on the site will tell you what imei it is signed to, for those who have done several like me.
As Sp00k says, save it somewhere safe, who knows where they might dissappear to shortly when this all comes into effect.
If you've ever got me to sign an application-ask me and I will look for your certificate and send it to you with instructions on how to continue signing applications yourself.
Thanks Sp00k for putting it all into simple english, yet I bet some people just wont read!

Ok, so what your all saying is....
That to sign apps, it now costs? I can sign for myself on my N95, but I want to sign for Dad. Does this mean I have to wait until next week?
And then will the process be the same? Or will it change? And if so, is somebody going to do a guide like sp00k has done?

No what sp00k is saying, (correct me if I am wrong) that instead of simply obtaining your own certificate from symbian signed and then using it to sign all apps to your phone, you will soon have to apply for a certificate via a form, and upload the application to the form, and then symbian signed will issue you your signed copy back. You will have to do this everytime you want to sign an application. Think of it as applying to SymbianSigned each time you have an app you want signed.
In your case, if you still have your certificate hold on to it! You can still sign apps for your OWN phone as usual. The after-process for you, only if you have your certificate, will be the same.
(If you dont have the certificate, go back into your symbiansigned account, it will be there.)
(If you got someone else to do it for you, get them to send it to you!)
As for you trying to sign stuff for your Dad, you will have to wait until symbian rolls out this rubbish new system.

SB... You got it exactly right girl! It's a shame many others don't seem to be able to grasp the idea... I've done my best to make it as clear as I can!
BTW I've added an extract from the official .pdf to the first post in this thread, which runs through the procedure that people will need to follow, it's nowhere near as complicated as applying for a developer certificate used to be... These are now no longer available in the same way as they were before, anything other than the simplest signing option now costs!
Offtopic: Thanks for the tip re: the .key files btw, I'm surprised by that!
And to continue, good luck with the recent job prospect... fingaz x'd for ya! :)

Hey Sp00k,
So you're saying its not all bad then huh? I dont think it is myself, but then I cant talk as I have my cer. Can I say neh neh???
Its left me feeling very down about the n95 tbh, and I have a sneaky suspicion that if something special is out by the time my contracts up, I could be swayed....I said I could.
Besides my n95 is so buggered just now, back case broken, volume button broke....I'm thinkin I should stop my insurance, get the button repaired on warranty. I dunno, the N95 has a very nasty taste right now. Its been spoilt. Good and bad ways. This news has just really peeved me right now, I think I'm in a huff.
You nver know what the future holds for symbian and n95 though, so who knows. Maybe we'll get some good news one day. A nice new firmware might cheer us up.....lol
(I'm surprised I got something right for a change sp00k. I'm sorry if I lose the rag a bit here these days I'm sorry, but this job thing wont leave my mind! I should know by this week coming, I want this more than a lotto win. Honestly. I will be so happy with life!)

Everybody understands that certificates are valid only for a single IMEI, easy enough, but the major point that seems to have been missed by nearly everyone is that Symbian Signed Online is far more sinister than just uploading your favorite app and having them spit it back at you ready to install.
Symbian Signed Online will only sign applications from the "Unprotected UID" range, which they could switch off at any time, or from the Protected UID range so long as your email address (used to log in to their service) matches the information they have on their records.
What does this mean in simple terms? It means most people are still screwed because the vast majority of applications are built using UID's from the protected range.
Sure, rotateme and other apps written by accessible people will be changed overnight to use a different UID, but you could count those applications on your fingers and toes. Everything else will be locked away.
Yes, you can change UID's with a hex editor and a calculator, but you have to do it in every exe and dll, new CRC's, repackage the app and install. It's non-trivial, people can't even grasp the signing process, there's no way in hell they are going to open a hex editor and work the magic.
You can bet your backside that Symbian will figure out which are legit apps and which are not very quickly. They'll build up a big old blacklist in no time.
This whole symbian signed mess is purely a result of pressure from developers tired of having their applications pirated (fair enough), but you can bet the guys handing out dev id's are also throwing kickbacks toward symbian too.

unfortunately, due basically to just trying to get on with the job at hand, i tried to sign with symbian the way that is described by Gizmoratty.(excellent post by the way):D
obviously, i was completely unaware of the problems people are having with SS, but when i tried, no more than 15 mins ago, i was stopeed by a window that basically seemed to explain that SS are only allowing a certain amount of new Sign-up's each day, and that basically i missed any allocated slots.
i'm not sure if this is of any help, but from the way it was written, it seemed like they were accepting Cert applications again.
Just thought i'd add this..
Don't hate me if it doesn't make sence or add up:( (i'm a complete novice to all this)

My patience is getting thin. I am starting to loose faith in symbian apps. WM6.1 looks much better these days.
