Exclamation ALWAYS Charging over USB! Does it hurt the battery?

Hi!

I'm using an Ebay craddle that comes with an AC and USB ports to charge the phone using it. The thing is that it doesn't work quite well, when cradled, sometimes it doesn't charge if both the AC & USB are plugged. But for example, if the phone is 25% or so with juice left, when craddled it will say "Not Charging". I don't know what it is, maybe the mAmp is not correct? It's a chines-mass-production piece o' crap that costed "pennies", but was the only cradle I found for the N95 so I had no choice.

Anyway, if I only have the USB plugged, the phone also charges! I think that in the circuitry it has the power bridged or something! (then why in hell does it also needs the AC in too?). And by using the USB only, I don't get the "Not Charging" message. But what I do get, and hence this post, is the battery bar "always" showing that it's charging. It never gets to a "fully charged" state. So... here is the question: will leaving it cradled 24/7 ruin the battery? How do you think it's working or what do you think the cradle is doing?

Thanks in advance!

OK, a few things going on here.

Sounds like the power adapter isn't working properly, or isn't connecting properly "not charging" is a common message meaning the phone knows you've plugged in a charger but it isn't getting enough current to charge.

Charging using USB as a power source does take forever, this is because USB only provides a little over half the current which the Nokia charger supplies.

Charging continuously will not ruin the battery, in fact Lithium batteries prefer to be kept topped up and have no memory effect. So don't worry about that.

You NEED a USB charger mate,it won't charge with the standard USB cable thats supplied with the handset.

Ehmm... I know that having a regular charger plugged in in any device is OK, because it REACHS a FULL CHARGED STATE, where the device would 'cut' the power from the AC, or in this case, the battery bar at right would be fixed with all bars fulled.

The thing I tried to explain in my post is that with this charger I never get there, I leave it charging for, let's say, 100 hours, and the 100 hours the bar will be showing the animation, as if it never is fully charged. Thus, my concern is that "not cutting" the power would overcharge battery, shorten its life, etc...

Hope you understand me now! Thanks again
