I too would like to know this. I just got my N95 8gb yesterday and the notification is quite annoying.

dayene- with those settings it still shows you the locked/unlocked popups when sliding open or closed. the popups cause a 2 seconds delay which is terrible if your someone like me who texts freqently all day. ontop of this, im suprised that such a powerful phone has such a slow menu system. after the 2 second delay with the "keypad unlocked", i then have to wait another 1-2 seconds to get to my messaging menu, then minor delays to go through inbox and reply/send. i remember my 50 dollar pay and talk telus phone that came with a free 50 for the account that had a faster menu sms system than this phone lol. but i guess everything has flaws =)

if you try full screen caller everytime you get a sms, a picture of the sender will pop up with a preview of the message then you can easily press the left softkey to go to messaging. maybe this will make it faster for you.

not the same thing dayene. the thing he's talking about is the pop-up that says "keypad locked" and "keypad unlocked" when you slide the slider. its only a second or so but its annoying

It is annoying yes, but it is most likely built into the firmware, so there's probably no way to stop them..
^^^^ (What he said) ^^^^
My personal way to get rid of notifications quickly is to lightly touch the camera key with the middle/palm of my hand or finger. A crude work around, but it makes it disapear straight away for me..
