New firmware V13.0.003 on Orange UK

Hi all!

I have a 3 month old N95 on Orange UK. I have a few issues with it that I will endeavour to sort out by reading this fantastic forum!

I have been reading, with great interest, the thread about debranding and upgrading to V20. I have plucked up the courage to do this but, I have a dilemma. I wasn't overly keen in voiding my warranty, so thought I'd wait a while to see if Orange would do something with the latest firmware and release an update. For quite a while I have been entering my product code 0551192 in Nokia's Software Updater only to find that my version V11.0.0.26 was up to date. I tried again today, before taking the plunge with NSS and V20, to check NSU and found V13.0.003 is now available.

Can anyone tell me if they know what has changed in V13.0.003 or is it too new for anyone to have any feedback on it?

Could it be similar to V20 but, with Orange's input? It does seem strange how V13 has been released after V20!

I have searched this forum and the WWW but, drawn a blank on any info on this new version.

Any help is appreciated.

Daz

you could assume that V13 on Orange is the update that the generics had from V11 to 12..since your goin from V11 and that Generic V20's been out and about for ages. Plus from what i hear operators are known to release updates eons late

EDIT: also in V12, the N95 is without the demand paging etc, so if your willing to wait eons, let Orange get V20 (by then you might find the un-branded generics on V30 :P) but hey, de-branding is a choice, and..
i think! correct me if i'm wrong anyone! that if you de-brand, but need to take it back coz it's broken or something and are 'fraid of orange screwing you over for de-branding, you CAN revert to orange's crippled firmware! again correct me if i'm wrong

DON'T DO IT!!!!

V13 firmware is crippled by a keypress bug! If you do a search from 6 months or so ago, you will find all the threads relating to this. Granted not 'everyone' suffered from it, but I wouldnt be willing to take the risk in your shoes.

There is a possibility that you might get away without it, but I cannot begin to describe how annoying it was.

I'm not going to tell you to debrand, but what I can tell you is that V20 unlocks the N95 to almost it's full potential. You will be amazed at the difference

Thanks peeps for your input.

@Steve R....... I succumbed and updated to V20 using the excellent guide from this forum. Nice now to have the N95 as it was meant to be before Orange poked their noses in! Your feedback was enough to put me off upgrading to V13.

Thanks again.

Smile

Hi im new here, Forums are ALWAYS useful and this one seems a LOT more friendly than the KU990 site (which I just got shot of today).

Ive just changed my phone and im on Orange and I got the annoying Orange sidebar on the home screen!
Dont seem able to change it (altho ive had the phone for little more than an hour so far lol)
Will this new firmware update get rid of that?

Cheers, Steve.
