Nokia N95

Just received an email reply from Nokia UK Online Shop. They confirmed that the N95 is due to release in the first quarter of 2007! So that means it could come earlier than the prevailing release date-2nd, April!

Here is an extract of their reply,

Dear Mr xxxxx

Thank you for contacting Nokia Helpline.

With regard to your email concerning the Nokia N95, we can advise you that this product is planned for release in the 1st quarter of 2007. We suggest you frequently check the Nokia Online Shop for availability.

Secondly, we are unable to advise on an approximate price of this handset until it is released.

Please don't hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Hmm that would be nice, but that looks very much like a set response...perhaps an out-of-date one from when they actually planned to make this date? Or maybe it will go on general sale (handset only) at the end of March while providers will get it a few days after...doesn't make much sense to me though.

You're right, doesn't make much sense :(

They seems to be famous for their canned responses- kind of a let down for a company like Nokia, but I know they get many, many people contacting them about future devices and release dates.

The worst is when you ask them a question about some upcoming model. No matter what you ask them, they'll give you a response somewhere along the lines of "We're sorry (and it will automatically insert your name, making it feel personal), but we cannot comment on products that have not been released yet." Doesn't matter what you ask, it can even be something that has been plainly stated in an official press release. I bet if you asked whether or not the Nokia Giraffe will have bluetooth 3.0, they will tell you they can't comment on any unreleased hardware.

Disappointing, but understandable. I too think that the first quarter message is an old, outdated one- however as I mentioned in another thread, Bil Spigner from the Nokia store in NYC confirmed that the N95 will be available at the N95 store (in limited supplied apparently) sometime in the next two weeks. The problem with that statement is that he also told me that the N95 has been globably released last week...?
