Where was my N95-2 made? Nokia being cryptic!

Hi, well this just keeps bothering me. I put down some good money on this phone, and one of my main selling points was that the phone was made in Finland. Mine however, has absolutely no indication of where it was made. The box says "Made by Nokia" and has the same thing behind the battery cover. The serial numbers all match up but is Nokia trying to conceal something? This phone was purchased from a distributor in HK who tells me the phone was imported from Finland. Why the hell would Nokia go out of their way in labelling phones this way then? Anyone else out there with a "Made by Nokia" marked device?

haha this has been debated to deth. I don't really see a difference. Why you would think that some finnish dude would be any better at spotting defects then a romanian, korean or asian, well i don't see why he would, its all made by nokia in the end. also mine very clearly reads "made in china" on the label behind the battery. Yours just says made by nokia?

Malaysia? i dont think they manufacture phones.. but i think they manufacture certain parts. i just asked my dad about it. he said that usually the basic, low-end, cheap phone models (like the 3310, 3315, 2300, etc..) are made in China. this is because the technology needed to build and make these phones work are simple, something that China have already conquered. whereas the top notch new phone models now (like the n95, n82, etc..) are made from Finland and assembled in Finland. the main parts like the motherboard and other important stuff are made from Finland. but the minor parts like the casing, keypad, etc are made in China. the minor parts will then be sent to Finland and will be assembled there. he said that if Finland gave China the main parts that make the n95 work, they will try and duplicate it and sell it at a cheaper price. this will definitely bring nokia down. no offense though, to all the Chinese people in this forum

Same reason a Mercedes is better than a Hyundai. Are you saying your N95-2 was made in China?

i cannot confirm it. but my dad's explanation did make some sense to me. therefore i believe that the main circuitry board and the other important stuffs are made from Finland and assembled in Finland. you just have to have a strong belief that your n95-2 was made in Finland. right now i dont think China have the technology to recreate a genuine N95 (mainly the OS, and some certain hardware). they only manage to come up with a standard touch screen phone that has a n95 build, nokla for example. by the end of the day, if you bought your phone from an authorized or trustworthy dealer, then your phone is genuine. you can always check with the *#0000# key or by removing the battery and see if your product code matches the ones below. these are the product codes for the n95-2

Thanks for that Armand, the phone was purchased from an established distributor in Hong Kong, but the question still stands, does Nokia manufacture the N95-2 in China for the Chinese market? Does anyone have an authentic Nokia N95 "Made in China"?
