I had to go back to my old phone because I was traveling all over the country and never found a suitable place to buy a new charger.

i have forgotten my lock code and my fone is switched OFF, so the first thing i have to do when i switch it on is to put the code which i have forgotten
i tried formatting the firmware but software updater requires the fone to be switched ON, when i switch it on and leave it at the code screen and connect the phone, the software does not detect the phone, most probably because it has not completely LOADED
anybody know a way where u can jus completely reset everything without having to LOAD the phone?
.................................................. .................................................. ...................................
I should have clarified. My phone is turned off as well and cant get into b/c of the security code! I need the same help yagger needs!!
-Thx

I am getting fed up posting in vain the link to the Tips where the alternative method is given, so I'll just spell it out:
Power off phone. Press and hold Green, * and 3 and keep them held whilst powering on and for a few seconds after, if kept pressed this formats without asking for Security Code confirmation.
Then you should be able to upgrade/re-install ("flash/re-flash") your firmware thus resolving your security code problem.

About 4/5 years ago when I was in India, I managed to lock my nokia phone(dont remember the model) and my local service providers were able to unlock it for me by giving me some unlock codes and resetting the lock for me. Had to sign some papers for that, but did not have to flash or do a hardware reset. Have you asked your local service providers for help yet?

The N95 is quite different from Nokia phones 4/5 years ago, plus are you sure you mean security code and not PUK code ?
The security code could be read off quite easily with the right hardware from DCT4 phones without reflashing, the security code for BB5 phones can also be derived by various methods - ALL BB5 Security code - Nokia Flash Reverse Electronic Engineering , but I don't think the service provider can help.

It has been mentioned that re-installing firmware resets the lock code to the default 12345, but I have not tested it myself. Failing that you can take to any stall/shop that does unlocking, they will have the required hardware, software and knowledge to either extract your current lock code or reset to default.

NSS can be used to recover your lock code. I will post it soon.

Getting your lock code without reset
First up, google Nemesis Service suit v 1.0.38.14 or later, download, install then run the application.
Then connect your phone in pc suite mode. but don't open the pc suite.
Go to NSS then click the magnifying glass button on the top right, it's the scan for new device button.
After your device is found, click the phone info button, top left area. then click permanent memory tab at the bottom right.
Tick the button 'to file' then click the read button on the right side next to it.
After it is done, open up the directory where you installed nss and find the pm folder, the directory should look like this:
C:\Program Files\NSS\Backup\pm
there will be a pm file there with your phones IMEI as the file name, open it with notepad.
Find this: [309]
// search for the whole [309] string and not just the number ok?//
easier if you would use the find tool with notepad, CTRL+F
You will be taken to the line with that string.
A few lines above it you will find this line:
5=31323334350000000000
Here is your lock code..=)
well not all of those digits, it's in this format:
3 a1 3 a2 3 a3 3 a4 3 a5 0000000000000000
in the case above, the lock code would be 12345
which is the default lock code,
write yours down and try not to forget it again..=)
close nss, then remove your phone,
change it in your settings..no need to elaborate on that..
you may be experinecing troubles like this:
even if you typed the correct code you'll still be getting a code error message, I've experienced this with my friend's 6500slide, he previously inputed so many codes before he gave me his phone and I think this is the cause for it, I just inputed the correct code several times, rebooted and repeated the process, reboot again if necessary, take a few minutes nd a lot of patience and the code will be finally recognized..
hope this helps..
