sim card rejected
Newbie
I just got a nokia N95 a few days ago and have experienced problems when I tried to change the PIN code on it as I was advised to do. Phone kept on rejecting the 'verify pin code' although I tried several times. Eventually it loked up (off course arghhhhh) and requested the PUK code and unlocked. Every time I tried to change the code it kept rejecting the 2nd attempt at verifying the code and would request the PUK code again. I tried switching the phone off and on again... but same thing happened. Can no longer use the phone as it keeps on asking me a new pin code and verifying that same pin code. It accepts the first new pin code but rejects the verifying one.... Vicious circle. In the end I decided to pull the battery and my sim card out of it and switching phone back on... all went well so I inserted my sim card back into the device. Now it says SIM card rejected and there's nothing I can do.
Has anyone got any advice please?

I suspect it's a dodgy Sim card, (try another one if possible) but if you think it's the phone you could :-
Try a full reset (you will lose any stored data on the phone),
1) turn off phone,
2) Press and hold *,3 and green dial out key (hold all 3 down)
3) now power on and keep all 3 buttons held down until the nokia hands appear.
it's a bit tricky and fiddly but you get a full reset and no need for any security codes.
(**WARNING** Never do this on anyone elses phone without their permission, it's not big, it's not clever and can hurt).
if it still misbehaves it is most likely a faulty sim card.
worth a try anyhow.
Good luck.

I visited the Whirlpool forum this afternoon and did a search on it and found a topic on "sim card rejected'. Aparently when you have been asked for the PUK code a number of times, something happens to the sim card and it becomes permanently locked. You have to go and get a new one. The phone is fine, I used the GPS on it this afternoon and even added a few themes from this website and all's well. It just rejects the sim card. I tried to put the sim card back into my other phone and it just keeps on telling me to insert the sim card no matter what. I guess I'll have to wait until after the Easter break now to get a new sim card. Good to know that you can only have the PUK code requested X number of times before the sim card fries itself totally!

If you entered the incorrect puk code into your handset enough times, it will lock the sim, rendering the card useless. What you will have to do is contact your service provider for a replacement sim to be sent out. If you are using a PAYG sim, you will have to register your details when you call customer services, and then, after registration, they will usually send out a replacement card so you can keep the same phone number.
