Well, I just updated and had high expectations for the ability to comfortably write text in a forum on the phone. Although it works, I see no improvement when using text boxes on web pages over the new firmware. What's changed?

Did everything proper to back-up my phone before upgrading to V.21 on my 95-1 and re-added all my applications as well as changed my settings back to my preferences I had on v.20

Now when I start my phone it connects to AT&T and gets signal so I can make calls but I get greeted by the "welcome screen" and if I want to learn more about my phone features. You can choose yes or no. I never recall this welcome screen from Nokia on any other version of FW, specifically v.20. Right after this Nokia welcome screen comes up I get a quick "device error" notice on the screen but I can make that go away.

I seem to have some sort of start-up issues. Anyone else see this "Nokia welcome screen" which I think is actually some sort of Nokia hardware review program?

Update: I deleted that welcome program but still get two instances of "device error" when starting up the phone. They flash briefly one after another and then the phone screen looks normal. Is there a way to view what programs and order programs start up when you turn on the phone?

After a more specific search I found the issue. Thanks to Spyda:

I have since made a discovery when troubleshooting another issue. I have found that removing the Stowaway BT Keyboard driver has stopped the system error. I have had the driver in for some time and never had this happen before so I can only assume there is a conflict between this and the Truphone software.

I would be interested to know if anyone else here has both installed and if so if this is a problem for you too.

It may well be time for a re-install but I would like to look at other options before taking such drastic measures!

Thanks

Great - so reduced functionality (headset problems as commented by others) and a false claim in the Change Log.

Well done Nokia ... once again you have excelled yourselves!

WHO THE HELL DOES THE USER ACCEPTANCE TESTING????

I had a problem that everytime i turned my phone on, after it finished booting up it would bring up the "INSTALLING" bubble, but i never started installing anything, it happened as soon as boot up was complete. This happened a few times before i thought of anyway to fix it.
So i went into APP manager and found 3 apps in there that had no names, just numbers. I deleted these and now everything is sweet.

mcbain ! thats just some apps trying to install. weirdly the apps names get replaced by gobbledygook in the app manager.

You have to manually install each unstalled one by going to the app manager. luckily i never had many apps before but they install fine doing it this way. eg MirageMoney was replaced in app manager as e655fjh.sis or something but i clicked it to install and it went smoothly

Agree with SB, I had the same. The actual name of the app(SIS file) shows when installing.

ahhh... and that's exactly why I'm a fan of installing each app individually at the end of the update :)

Aw really? Been lurking last few days and reading everything regarding the new firmware to hear all the possible problems etc after update before I go for it. The main reason I was going to upgrade was due to the text box "improvement". I lurk on a lot of forums while at work using my phone and sometimes when I enter long amounts of text, you cant see it when it gets to the bottom of the screen. Other times the "Done" disappears from the function button and pressing up or down on the Dpad closes my browser completely removing everything I just typed X.X
Did anyone else get that problem with v20? Or with V21?
