Well, I tried to update the firmware ( N95) with product code 'trick' as described elsewhere here, as NSU didn't yield any updates with the resident prod code. So next I whipped NSU up, prompting me for the update I was hoping for, and pressed 'update'...
After downloading like 116MB, it started installing, prompting me that there should be about 15 minutes left, and the spiralling popsicle progress bar was like 1/10th on its way. Then, I saw my pc prompting that the N95 was disconnected. After half a minute or so, NSU prompted that a retry was warranted, following which the device went into a 'warm boot', asking me again if I wanted PC Suite, file transfer etc. Retried, same things happening.
Tried another pc - god knows it could be the south bridge chip on the pc's mobo - but still the same. Thank goodness that the resident (old) firmware wasn't destroyed, it still works fine.
Specifics:
Model: RM-159
(Modified) product code: 0534844
NSU version: 1.4.39en
Current resident firmware: 14.0.001
Detected update: 21.0.016
Anyone else having this problem? Solution or workaround, anyone? Or is this again one of those things that seem to be for everyone - except me?

Have you changed your product code? Should it not be 0536065?
Ok, you have a EURO 2 product code. that adds up ok. Ive not heard of that old firmware either however.

Believe me, it's right here, factory installed. Thing is, the usb connection with the device breaks up when updating, each time in the same stage of installing. I tried it on different pc's, so a controller problem seems too remote.
I don't know why it's happening, that's why I posted this here, hoping someone could help me out.

Yep that's right, I'm with T-Mobile. Does that render the phone unupdatable, unless T-Mobile releases their own update version? Or is there another 'smart' product code I could try perhaps?

No, not at all, if NSU is showing there is an update available for your current product code, then your fine to upgrade your devices firmware(see quote below), however, there are known issues right now with some compatibility issues, and glitches in NSU, and PC Suite.

There are a number of methods mentioned within the forums on what to do when your stuck at the 15 minutes mark, or when you get the warning that device has been disconnected, and sometimes are asked to remove battery etc.
Do a search on here for Software+Updater, as see what you can find. i will take a look too for you, and if i find anything that may be of help to you, I will post it here for you.
Just noticed your product code has "Modified" in brackets. Have you changed this via NSS? (Nemesis Service Suite).
EDIT, ignore the above sentence regarding NSS. I see that you did change it. This does void your warranty.

Thanks for the tip. I killed the two Nokia startup services, rebooted my pc, double-checked if the services were in fact disabled (which was the case) and tried again. To no avail, alas: change battery at the 15 minute mark.
And yes, I modded the product code with NSS.
I'm using XP pro sp2, btw.
