I always recommend to keep it simple - if your current product code allows you to upgrade to the latest firmware available, then why change it ?

V 21 is not available yet in a branded version except on T-mobile UK where it is called V 14, so you should get the non-branded generic V 21.

It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

Please read all threads you can find on "problems updating software/firmware" so that you are aware what might happen and how to resolve it.

Haven't had the time to update yet, (and I wanted to read a few more threads on the possible pitfalls I might come across! That's taken a great chunk of my life as well!!! ), but I believe by using 93tid's suggestion above, I may have stumbled upon the answer.

I originally checked the XP SP2 box in the Updater but the program just wanted to 'repair' istself and then shut down. However, after checking 'run as admin' as well, the early stages, before connecting the phone, do seem to fire up correctly......

Will update tomorrow, (unless I read about another problem.....sometimes I guess I've just got to bite the bullet!)

I do find it absolutely unbelievable that Nokia and Microsoft, 2 of the largest, most profitable companies on this planet, cannot get thier heads together and suit out a fix for Vista! And...........pretty much leave customers to thier own devices to try and sort the upgrading issue out. Largely by using forums and discussion boards such as this wonderful place.

Will report back success or failure!

Just updated NSU and tried to upgrade my 95-1 to V21 but the NSU said that the updater system is currently not available. Anybody else getting that error?

NSU was down on the 3rh of this month, but as far as Im aware its should be running.

Have you had a look on Nokia Discussions to see if there's anything on there about it?

Just to note, the new NSU is Vista Compatible too..

Finally:-) So far I found one disturbing thing. When I checked a few days ago for new fw for my N95-1 it said only that I have the last version and the only action NSU allowed was to quit it (no fw reinstall allowed). I tried with my E51 too and this time it worked properly (I was allowed to reinstall current fw). I tried it a few times, even now.

There is a thread on Nokia discussions with about the whole world having NSU problems. Maybe it's lucky..seems like V21 is no big deal anyway..but it is a little upsetting that NSU is down...

Hi, i just bought Tmobile N95-1, and updated software from 12x to 14.0.001 with code 0546659.
It appears no other software updates are available, although this site says V21 is now available.
Is it ok to use another code and download v21..................
Whats the danger

Not sure if this has already been posted but UK O2 (0548021) has upgraded its firmware available on the NSU from v20.0.015 to v21.0.016.

Looks like 3 (code 0546553) are up to date as I've just received a new N95-1 and its firmware is v21.0.016 (dated 14-02-08).

N95 Firmware Upgrade V21

Not sure if this is of any interest but I did the upgrade to V21 some weeks ago due to some severe problems with the phone at the time.
All the problems I had have gone but to be honest I do not think anything about the upgrade is quicker.

A problem that I was hoping to be fixed & has not been was the changing of the Alarm & Calender tones, thanks to Micky I can do that now but it really should not have to be done that way.

I'm sure I saw a screenshot on here somewhere where it showed (65.02) & not (65.01) that I have.
