Cool All Updated

Well i got home from work, plugged my phone into the charger and into the laptop, backed up all my files tried the NSU. No new updates... ok then i'll change the product code. All changed fine, ran NSU again new updates so yay. Downloaded the update nice and quick. Phone started to update...

then i hear a dreaded sound its the Windows XP chime to say something thats plug and play has been disconnected! Anyway the update continues and the suddenly the phone goes blank and it comes up saying Phone Recovery on the NSU needless to say i shat myself big time thinking my phones a blooming BRICK!!! so it had 3 steps to follow

1) Unplug from charger and remove battery.
2) reinsert battery and connect charger.
3) press power button for a few seconds then press retry.

so i did all these things and the nokia screen came back on the phone. the NSU was saying estimated time remaining: 2 minutes. It sat like that for about 10 minutes then it suddenly changed to 25 seconds and stayed there for about 2 or 3 mins before very very slowly counting down the seconds.

Then I finally hear the good old Nokia Chimes!!!!

It worked!!!!

Thank GOD!!!

Ooooft u had some experience, mine made that noise you get, you know, the old interference sound used to get when on a call next to a hi fi? Then the xp made a sound like urs, i looked at the phone, it said 'test mode'.......i left it and less than a min later(even though it estimated 49 mins...) it was done! Yey!

Don't think you can really get much better with flash based iPlayer on the limited hardware of the N95 :-(

It's the same on the Nokia N800, Youtube works OK but iPlayer is unwatchable.

Maybe the BBC will do what they did with the iPhone and make a special version for S60 users. After all I'm sure there's more S60 owning TV Licence payers than there are iPhone owning TV Licence payers, perhaps we could do what the Linux community did and kick up a fuss.

Bummer, I have to wait until tomorrow when my daughter gets home.

Crusty NSU has never ever worked on this Vista laptop, only on her XP laptop.

Mind you, it may be a blessing in disguise I suppose. Let a few others test it first.

I was quite suprised, it only took 15mins to download and install. V20 took about 45mins.

I think we should all bombard the BBC with loads of emails until they organise iplayer for S60. Got a mate who works for the BBC on the IT side and have just sent him a sms asking him the question.

Well I in the middle of rebuilding my phone, it updated to V21 in less than 10 mins via NSU and now the memory card is being re copied. Only 30 minutes to go. Then I have to re install all the applications and themes I want. I forgot what a pig the phone is to re build. It's almost worth swapping to a N82 for.

Well just been testing and here are my findings so far:
  1. It seems a little bit quicker on multi-task and the browser starts quicker.
  2. Youtube works well, especially with rotateme in full screen. Best thing is you can see how much data you are downloading in the corner!
  3. Active search is MUCH faster in loading and using. Before it was very, very laggy.
  4. Gallery is lightning fast now!
  5. I hope there are more battery improvements, as it says there is. Only way to tell is to use it tmoz. I use 3g for about an hour on the bus each way to work and listen to music, plus the odd game and of course some calls. So I will defo know if there are some improvements!
