Increasing my N95 memory with a new 8GB card!

Hi People

Just trying to get some help. I have recently purchased a new 8GB SanDisk Micro SD card for my phone. I have installed it etc and whacked a load of music onto it. However, now when I use it it is really really slow. How I done something wrong? Why is it creeping along now?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Did you buy it from a reputable company or from somewhere like ebay? Could well be a fake if it's running really slow.

Did you format it using the N95 when you first got it?

I bought it from ebay. Was working fine until I dumped a load of music on it though. I am in the process f reformatting and putting info back on the memory card. Will let you know how I get on. I am running V12 so need to update I guess. Assuming I will have to debrand. I have seen the instructions on how to do this. Is fairly straight forward and safe I take it?

Coming from eBay there's a good chance it's not a genuine 8Gb card, it's not hard to fake them sadly.

did you happen to format the card using windows?
if so - DON'T! (instead, use the format option on the phone, it will fix it.)

[if you really wanna know why - windows set the FAT cluster size to a different smaller size the one the phone sets. smaller FAT size cluster = less "lost" space, but slower reads/writes.]
