Incoming E-mail SMTP. Can't set-up conn.

Hi all, I'm new at this. I have N95 8gb & need to get my work email on the fly. The exchange server dosen't have pop3 set up, it is SMTP I think. The IT guy is trying to work out whats involved in getting my email, but it's getting expensive! my phone will send email in SMTP but so far wont recieve. Is there a patch or something that can be done to fix my problem? Thanx in advance for your help.
Ade5.

I believe it has to be POP3 or IMAP. SMTP is usually for "outgoing mail"

Is there any way I can change or patch the email set up to recieve in SMTP?
It's looking like it will be cheaper to buy an other phone with SMTP incoming rather than pay the IT guy to sort it out at the exchange server! Hmmm....

Maybe look into on of the push email software. I'm not an expert so hopefully someone can chime in. What server are you using?

select Messaging>Options>Settings>E-mail>Mailboxes then select your account;
Connections setting>Incoming e-mail enter your username, password. Your Incoming mail server should look like this pop.yourserver.com or pop3.yourserver.com or possibly imap.yourserver.com
Go back and select Outgoing mail, your outgoing email server should look like this smtp.yourserver.com.
If all fails, sign up with flurrymail.com or other free email clients.
