Loose slider

Anyone else have a very loose slider on the phone? Feel a lot of movement when writing texts and pressing down on the end call button etc?

Excellent thread! This is definately a concern for many users. Let's hear it, any wiggles out there?

Was that sarcastic pseudo? Sorry if this thread has been posted already. Thinking about bringing mine back to the shop as the right side of the slider seems to be developing a bit of a gap.

Hey frank,

In my FIRST IMPRESSIONS thread, i had mentioned that there was a wiggle in the slider (as compared to a compact slider mechanism in a Samsung D500 and D900). However, the N95 slider is much better than the N80's, which not only wiggles but becomes loose.

Sorry to hear about your prob. The wiggle should be limited only to the clearance allowed by the N95's rails as the slider connects to the main body. If your unit swivels dangerously, then that's a serious hardware problem that should be fixed by the supplier.

Thanks for that ray. Will give it another week. If it stays the way it is I can live with it as you have experenced a little wiggle too. Any worse and I will bring it back and see can I change it.

Frank- no sarcasm at all... I'm honestly concerned with how widespread this problem seems to be. If we have many users report on this, perhaps we can have something done. I'm very concerned with the number of random poor builds out there.

I didn't find anything really upsetting with my N95. The slider is great, excellent movement when opening/sliding both sides, with great start/end feedback. When open I can barely feel any vibration when typing or anything. If I really pay attention there is a slight vibration, but it's HARD to notice, in my case at least. Great feedback from the keyboard too, excellent screen, small improvements in the OS (finally I can set up a decent workdays recurring alarm), 5 times faster than my N73. And right now I have full GPS signal from 5 satellites from the INSIDE of the house. (which is weird, cause today in Downtown Chicago I din't get a fix around those huge buildings).

Sorry for my stupid jumping around, but I really like this phone A LOT!

To go back, the sliding is nice, with almost none vibration whatever the phone is fully open or closed.

One issue I noticed: I got a leather case that's closing with a magnet. Everytime I place the N95 inside(locked keyboard) I get it out with the display rotated on the horizontal (like u taking pics or something). I was thinking there is a small sliding involved somehow (cause when u slide the phone to reveal the PLAY/PAUSE buttons it's supposed to turn the screen horizontally). So, it took me 20 minutes to take it, put it back, take it out, didn't notice any real sliding that will cause the phone to do that. I called my wife to look with me at the phone when I do the magic, she didn't see any sliding either. The phone won't flip the screen until it's full open, not if u just slide it partially. So I almost got crazy that the phone is broken or something. When finally my wife comes up with an idea: let's place the phone really close to another magnet. We did, and the same magic happened again: horizontal screen with no slide/button touch. In a few words: my leather case with magnet lock is USELESS !
