Could annyone point me in a direction to a post that lists the pro`s and con`s for the n95 \ n95 8gb here on the forum ? (i tried to serch but keep getting the 4 letter minimum error)

I`m at work so i can`t see the video (no sound), and after work im going to my service provider to get (hopefully) a new phone.
i always thought id go for the classic (due to Micro sd card slot cause I`m a music slave(16 gigs sd cards just arround the corner! ?)), but i think i would like more ram to, so i just migth upgrade (?) to the black one.

Quite an old video that.

As to what to go for. there are many pro's, and con's between the two.

N95-1
Lense protection with Lens cover
SD Slot, so upgradable storage
More lcd pixels, even though smaller screen, 2.6", so better quality picture.

N95-2
No lense protection
No SD Slot
Bigger screen at 2.8", but less pixels than the N95-1
More ram
Better battery, although I can't fault the battery on my N95-1 with latest fimware.

! WRONG !

=> both N95 shares same resolution : 240*320
=> Only difference is size screen, LCD is bigger for N95-2

N95-1
WRONG => More lcd pixels, even though smaller screen, 2.6", so better quality picture.
/* No more pixel for N95-1, no better quality picture ! (in resolution speaking)

Nokia Official site :
Displays
* Large 2.6" QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16 million colors

N95-2
WRONG => Bigger screen at 2.8", but less pixels than the N95-1
/* No less pixel than N95-1

Nokia Official site :
Display
* Large 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16 million colors

N95-1 Could give a "better screen" feeling only because of the ratio pixel/inch

Look a N80, pixel density is so high that pixel can't be noticed ! (352x416 for 2.1 inch)

Appreciate your input my friend. I may have indeed read the original screen review incorrectly. Here is what I read..

Quote:
Both devices come with a display-resolution of 240×320 pixels. That means that the display has 76800 pixels. That is okay, but not good if you look at the display of a N90 or N80; both of this devices have a resolution of 352×416 pixels, that means they have major 146432 pixels!

The N95 has a 2.6″ display which is 4cm wide and 5.3cm long. The N95 8GB´s display is 0.2″ bigger and so it is 2.8″. It is 4.3cm wide and 5.7cm long.

Quote:
In the N95 there are 3622 pixels per sqarecentimeter (cm²). The N95 8GB has only 3134 pixels/cm², that are about 500 pixels less than in the classic N95.

As you can see the N95 8GB´s display is bigger, but also has less pixels/cm², that means that the pixels itself are bigger and so they show images less sharp than the pixels in the N95.

The contrast of the N95 8GB´s display is better than in the classic N95, and the background-light is also stronger. The N95 8GB has a window in front of its display to protect the display itself, but this is not a advantage in every situation: If you use your phone in the sun or in bright light the window will reflect more than the blank display. The normal N95 hasn´t this window, so the display isn´t protected very well. You can also notice this if you touch the display with your finger or a pen - it will discolor like the flatscreen of a computer.

No problem :-)

Just for fun, I calculate pixel density for a N80 (my previous mobile)
Screen Size : 3 cm * 4.1 cm
Resolution : 352x416 = 146 432 pixel

N80 has 11 905 Pixels/cm² (!!!!!), near four times higher than a N95 or N95 8GB !
Why N95 don't use this resolution ! (GRRRR)
Nokia, make a really interesting & NEW N97 !!!! ;-)
