While it isn't required, I STRONGLY recommend it. Either you'll end up connecting to the Internet not realizing what an application is doing and run up a large bill, or you'll be missing out on a LOT of what this device offers. I've been using Symbian OS for quite some time, and have found there to be a wealth of 3rd party applications that rely on Internet connectivity. While it's true the
N95 has great wifi support, you don't want to be tethered to an access point all the time, and of course, most of the time you simply may not have that option.
I'd say go for it. I'm not sure what operators are charging these days for unlimited access, I've been grandfathered into a rediculous deal some time back when people really didn't use unlimited data and it was rather just a novelty. I'd say if you're the kind of user that will snatch up a mobile device at this price, you'll not regret getting an unlimited data plan here in the States. The prices aren't horrifying and the benefit on such a device as the
N95 is just absolutely tremendous.
Go for it! 8)
