Rogers NAM-4 with latest firmware (v21)
Hi can't seem to find if anyone is succesfully using the latest firmware (v21) in canada, I have checked on nokia europe site for latest version based on north american product code and even though i have changed the product code with nss, it still says i already have the latest firmware available.

From what I've found on the net the product code for NAM-4 is 0556218 if you go to the europe.nokia site Nokia Europe - Device software update - Support and punch that in it will tell you what firmware is available for that model

Can you please update your profile with your exact phone model and current firmware version. There is no such thing as a NAM-4, at least not a Nokia N95.
If you mean N95-4, then the latest available version is V.20 and you CANNOT update it by changing your product code to a N95-1 or N95-2 code - you can only brick your phone.

check if the nss has changed the product code for your phone, it sometimes happen that the code is not written to the phone. then try using the nsu, make sure u are not using vista for the update.

sorry, just updated my profile...i got a rogers n95-4 v11.2, can someone confirm if 0556218 is the correct product code for this model, using nss. Would love to know if someone from canada is using v20 and if they find it stable and worthwhile

it sure is stable and worthwhile, for product code, i would suggest that u search the forum, using the search function, if my memory serves me right then there was a thread which had all the codes.

when i actually perform the software upgrade will this be considered "debranding" ...essentially removing the rogers startup...and preconfigured applications?

There are two options:
1. You can upgrade the firmware without changing the product code - if allowed. This is not debranding.
2. If not allowed as per above, you change your original product code (with NSS) in order to install a higher (generic) version of firmware - then yes, you have debranded and also voided your warranty.

I am using v20 Firmware on my N95-2. I got this phone from a friend who bought this from India. When I got the phone it was having firmware v10 and then I upgraded to v20 last week like a charm from Nokia Europe website. It allowed me to upgrade without changing the Product code, may be coz mine was having an Asian Product code.
So far am happy with the upgrade. I never had a chance to try out the other firmware, coz the first thing I did as soon as I got the phone was upgrading the firmware. So I cant comment which one is better. So far it hasnt given me any problems.
Hope it helps!
