successful debranding + upgrade of Rogers N95-4

After alot of reading, i finally took the plunge and upgraded to v20.2.005....i thought this version was supposed to have the auto rotate? 2 changes i've noticed so far 1) the right multimedia key does not activate the voice command when held, it now activates the music player (pressing it once brings up the rotating media menu) 2) holding the # key does not activate the silent mode.

Other than that phone is working great, no more rogers apps or config

Whoa.. Brave.. How much did you get the n95-4 from rogers?

If I had a choice back then, I would've just bought an n95-2 than do what you did. (i'd be too scared) Lol.

Sounds good. Good luck on future modding!

The right multimedia key never activated voice commands - it always brings up the multimedia menu. Voice dialling is activated by pressing and holding the right SOFTKEY, which is the thin elongated key above and partially around the multimedia key.

When I got my n95_2 a few days ago It came loaded with V20.0.016 which had auto rotate but It's turned off by default and I had to find the menu for it

menu>tools>settings>general>personalisation>displa y and enable "rotate screen"

I updated my wifes N95-1 to V20 but she doesn't have auto-rotate. I had to use Rotate-me on hers

Did you even try to search the forum ? Or at least read the FAQ and Tips section ?

Would that be a million bucks per link ? Guess not.

This is the write-up for debranding and upgrading (from the Tips section):

N95 Tips

This gives the link to the latest NSS:

Nemesis Service Suite updated to 1.0.38.14

Change your product code to 0561948 - ONLY if you are sure you have a N95-4. This is where I say "Please update your profile to show your phone model and current software".

Get Your Phone Model & Firmware under your User Name.

Then follow the instructions from the first link to run the update with Nokia Software Updater. You can find it as part of PC Suite or you download it on its own. There are dozens of threads dealing with issues with NSU and PC Suite which might arise when updating - in that aspect anything regarding N95-1, N95-2 or N95-3 is also valid for your N95-4. Best use a computer running XP, not Vista.

Post back here if you have any problems. We'll try to help - even for free.
