has anybody ever come close to the 280hrs claimed Standby time?

It will soon be time to change my phone..a few options about but I'm likely to choose the HTC Touch Pro (aka Raphael).

I was reading through the specs and it has a claimed battery life of ~400 hours standby.

This sounds great I thought, until I read that the N95 8GB has a claimed battery life of ~280 hours standby...and I'm lucky if I get 2 days in total!!

so..hopefully, I might get 3 days out of my new phone.

but this raised the question..does anybody ever get close to that figure?? that's almost 14 days!!..I don't recall ever having a phone that didn't need charging after 4-5 days max!!

so..what's best anyone has had from their N95??

I have had about a week on standby, but with very little phone usage.

The only phone I've had that would do 2 weeks, or more, was the good ole Nokia 5110! (or was it 5100 ?)

Never have i got that much standby from it! I'm ALWAYS on my phone though. I usually get 1 or 2 days. I charge it overnight. I suppose you only get amazing standby when you have no apps running and don't touch your phone. Ever. And with a sexy phone such as this, who's gonna have the willpower to do that?! Not me!

I would say I've had close to that. I've left it on when I've gone on holidays and it still has a charge when I get back. Remember stand by means exactly that, not doing anything. Also having bluetooth and wifi off.

I think it's definitely another case where "up to" is the key phrase, I wish they would give a more likely figure when they advertise these phones though.

I managed to get a week out of it while I was waiting to use up the minutes on my spare PAYG phone. However now, I actively use the WiFi, BT and 3G so I get no more than a day out of it.

Back when I was using my PAYG, nothing was turned on my N95 and, as I said, I managed a good week (approx 160 hours). Never 280 though... I can imagine that the ideal conditions would be that everything would be turned off and only using the UTMS network. Oh.. and very rarely activating the backlight. Best yet.. put it in Offline mode and leave it. Would be interesting to see the life on it!

Why would they do that, they'd never sell 1/4 as many units as they do now Twisted.

It's just marketing isn't it.....Or maybe the phone was initially aimed at the 3 network because 280 hrs is about how long you have to wait to get any kind of sense out of their customer services.
