Not for us poor saps in the US. I get a message that says no software update available.. even if I hook up to the Euro site. My phone is a straight from Nokia USA model, not *branded*

If you post your Product Code and Operator Variant people can post when a version for your phone becomes available.

Should there at least be an update for the SIM free phone?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I'm also seeing this same firmware. I have tried both updating the software via my PC Suite and through the Nokia website but no joy. Why is this?

It doesnt matter what firmware version you have. Your Product Code is not in the NSU update list yet so you need to wait for Nokia to approve your phones branding/code.

If you bought the phone outright, then you can change the product code to Euro 1 and update it.
If you bought the phone from a reseller or if its on a contract, then you can still change the code but it will legally void your warranty.
If you bought the phone from a reseller or if its on a contract, then it may be unbranded. The NSU update "should" work, unless your region has not been added.

I'm finally updating my N95 to the current FW. I had to pop in another stick of ram into this machine to get the job done. I'm downloading right now and taking stock of the 23 3rd party programs I use for reinstallation. That's a pain. The only thing I'm wondering about it is my bookmarks in the Nokia web browser. Am I going to loose them? Does anyone know how I can back them up?

Edit- Oh well. I got about half way through writing them all down, and the phone rebooted on me. I guess it doesn't give you a heads up when between downloading an update and installing it. Freaked me out at first, I thought it crashed while I was using the browser- the warning not to disconnect or restart the phone scared me until I saw the progress bar moving. Guess I'll find out if it keeps the bookmarks now.

There... just got the notification that it's done. :)

I did a backup of the phone memory to SIM before upgrade and did a restore. The bookmarks were intact.
