Well let's just not tell anyone my secret. I'm not too concerned with violating this silly little law in the States. My 6682 allowed me to disable the sounds... and I doubt I'm gonna run into any law enforcement that is going to know that my N95 should be making sounds when I snap a photo. I'm not going to use this feature in any criminal way.
Anyway, I guess I can appreciate the warning... for whatever it is worth.

I've never used pc suite with my N95 yet... they're not friends yet.
I just wasn't thinking I guess... too tired from the 18 hour shift at work. I read the **** change list at n95blog and got too excited to wait.

I've used PC Suite since Nokia Data Suite 3.0. Its great for keeping a nice secure copy of your contacts and very trouble free to use.
How would you get your contacts back if you lose your phone today?

I have my contacts backed up through other software, on a portable drive, on my home pc and at work. I also have a copy online with shozu, for another off site backup. My contacts are not a problem.

Does the other software not do your bookmarks too? PC Suite creates a folder in IE called 'Mobile bookmarks', I can see it now I'm at home. 'Mobile Favorites' is the one I have from Microsoft Active Sync and Windows Mobile.

i have downoaded the new firmware for the N95, and when my laptop starts to update the formware on the handset I lose connection with my pc as error message is displayed saying unknown usb device connected ?
Plus Nokia pc suite then shows as N95 as NOT connected and the N95 handset powers off. It will not turn on again unless I remove and re-insert the battery ??? Has anyone got any suggestions how I ca work aroud this to upgrade the firmware? cheers,

Sadly it does not. I didn't think about pc suite at the time doing this. I remember seeing a mobile bookmarks folder too on my PC. It's empty.

The Firmware update is quite clever, it sort of turns your N95 into a different device to download the firmware to and I think it then copies it across internally. If it fails halfway through the download, the phone still works, if it fails halfway through the copy across, the firmware downloading bit still works.
I think the 'alternative' device name is something like BB% Device Loader? Near the start of the upgrade process, your N95 device should disconnect and the BB5 device connect and be recognised. Towards the end there may be a couple of disconnect and reconnects.
I had problems with my N80 downloading firmware, it got stuck in a loop telling me to remove the battery and was stuck in the BB5 mode, wouldn't start as a phone at all. I just repeated the firmware download process using Nokia Software Updater a few times and it eventually worked.
