Thanks Pseudofinn.
Catrapaz, I was only reusing your word, arrogant. Is it really so arrogant to expect you to get hold of a PC for the odd time you want to upgrade your firmware. Or use an emulator on the Apple?
If we're talking corporate arrogance, when will Apple licence its technology?

thanks all for the above.
i tried upgrading the firmware via Nokia.com.sg through the Nokia Software Updater. Results are still the same, "there is no updates" even though I am on V 10.0.018.
Tried this via the Nokia.com.au site also, but results were as above.
andykn, my product code is 0549001
anyone know anyway around this, or do I just have to wait?
been reading up on the enhancements this firmware updates does... seems to fix some bugs on maps and WLAN issues...
anyone been having issues with their WLAN not connecting to the browser? the N95 detects the WLAN connection, however it is unable to web browse anymore..fring connects though. keeps saying there is no connectivity to the net, but picks up the connection, the moment you search for it again...

You need to change the product code to get the new firmware otherwise you have to wait until an update is available for your current product code

Anyway, I don't think I was arrogant, I just asked for help and commented on the kind of dry way the FAQs answer to a legitimate Mac user doubt. There's this image among a lot of PC users that Mac users are all a bunch of pretentious idiots. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint but I am not... I changed for Mac for simple and practical reasons: because I couldn't stand all the Windows errors and needed something easy and reliable to work. And I'm quite happy with my Mac...
So, peace...

I too am a Mac user, but I was able to update my N95 via XP running under Parallels. Try it, you'll like it...

Also a Mac user - Wasn't able to use Parallels though (Geedub(?), did you hack the USB drivers?), but Boot Camp worked a treat for my N80...
Hoping for the same when the Orange variant comes out - or I lose patience and decide to debrand!! ;)

It looks like your product code isn't a generic one:
How To: Update Firmware, Debranding, and/or Change Language Pack on the Nokia N95 at the Nokia blog
So you'll have to change the Product Code or wait. Its not too clear what Operator the product Code relates to. What's the digits in the brackets on the last line when you enter *#0000#?

Thanks for the Parallels tip! I just installed it and it works perfectly. Arrogantly, I must say I never thought I'd have a Windows OS installed in a computer again... Ha ha ha ha! (just kidding) :) But the truth is, it works and I managed to upgrade my N95 firmware. Thank you!

I actually updated mine using XP under VMWare on my Linunx-laptop, so there are always options if you have access to a license for windows.

Just a firmware update here, browse an IE only website there, and soon you won't be able to stop.
Until Windows crashes, of course.
