Word docs with embeded graphics

HI all
I am trying to use my N95 as an E-Book reader.
I created a Word document from an e-book I want to read, and carefully resized all the graphics down to 240x320 or smaller (Gifs)
The result loads quickly and is easy to read, but none of the pictures show.
Any ideas on how to make the graphics show (it's a book on web site design, and the pictures are examples, so somewhat necessary to the story!)

To answer my own question, I saved the doc file as a Pdf, and that solved the problem.
I now get text and graphics, and there is the added advantage that when I shut down the adobe reader, and then go back to it later, it remembers where I was up to and takes me straight there.

I now have an e-book reader as well as all of the other gadgets in my phone.
