Maybe you are pressing the camera shutter button on the side of the phone?
The same thing happens to me from time to time and in the beginning I was also clueless to what was happening.
cheers

I've noticed my N95 beeping a couple times when I'm on the phone too. It's not like the beep you'd get when recording calls, it's more of a warning tone. I thought it might be the camera button like Peter321 said, so I tried it out. No beep when on the phone and pressing the camera button.
I wonder what it is. Is yours beeping in set intervals? If not, it could be a message received... could be a warning tone relating to low battery, low memory, bluetooth connect/disconnect... something like that.
If it is in regular intervals, do you have a call recorder program installed? Cellphones are supposed to beep when recording calls.

Well, my N95 does beep when I press the camera button while on a call - it's the latest firmware, Generic version 11.0.026
And the camera button is located so I often hit it while holding the phone in my left hand. It's my middle finger (don't now the english name for it (the F'ck finger :-) ) that hits the button, and that DOES produce a small beep - just tested it.
cheers

Hmmm... strange I wonder why. Mine doesn't seem to do this. Generic firmware 026 as well.

I have, but that's not it for me.
It's strange about the camera button not beeping on Pseudofinn's phone when it does on mine.
The annoying thing is, that it's when halfpressed (like when you activate autofocus without taking the photo yet) which requires very little force, so I have to remember not to put my finger on the button when talking - but at least I now know where the sound is coming from, in the beginning it was driving me nuts.
Maybe others could test this and see if they get the same behavior or if it's just my phone.
Actually I think this happened on the first N95 I had too (had it replaced because of a loose slider, unfortunately the new one is even worse ) so maybe it IS a general thing?

Is it at regular intervals, or completely random?
Does it happen only when you first make a call, or throughout?

I've noticed the same noises with mine.
Whilst not knowing what was causing the beeps, I was hoping it was just simply catching a side button by accident but I haven't been able to totally conclude that this is the case!
I've just had a play around and, when pressing the camera button while listening to my voicemail inbox, it gives out the same noise so I feel pretty confident this is what is happening.
Now all I have to do is find a way of holding the phone when on a call, which doesn't interfere with the buttons - however, with 4 buttons down one side and 3 fingers, it aint gonna be easy.......!
