Anyone Feel This Isn't All Its Cracked Upto Be?
What a Faff On!
my N95, Constantly
Dropped Calls
Turned itself off
Froze
Mic would stop working
so after biting off the head at someone at orange they finally sent me a replacement, who took three attempts to deliver it, once didn't ring the bell just put the "sorry we missed you" card, once didn't even show up, and finally showed up 2 hours earlier then the time and only just caught my housemate in!
and now does anyone know
how i can get the contacts back from icontacts to my phone (via isync i presume? what connection mode etc? it doesn't like any)
and
is my GPS settings going to be ok since i paid for a 1 year licence
getting pretty fed up, but its still miles ahead of anything else

Hi vitaminlee, welcome to the forum. Now that you've gotten your replacement, have you tried out your phone's features to see they all work?
It should work fine now...

To be fair, this isn't the phone's problem is it?

There still isn't a firmware upgrade for orange, something to do with more moaning about removing VoIP! this is from a friend so i wouldn't take it as gospel, all i can do is possibly put on the standard firmware upgrade perhaps? if it is infact a software problem not a hardware i will laugh at how nokia could release a handset with such problems

That is usually the sacrifice us early adoptors have to make, I am sure if you waited 6 more months and bought an N95 then you'd probably get a pretty polished product. What the N95 does show me however is that Nokia are on the right track and have produced a true first in class device and I can't wait for the next incarnation (small form factor, GPS, 3G, >5mpixel camera) N-series phone.

Yeah i understand what you mean about waiting for 6 months, but i needed an upgrade right away due to a broken phone so had no choice really, however if i was going to wait 6 more months i would have gotten an iphone, however im sure if there is any product that applies your advice about waiting 6 months its certaintly going to be that iphone

I've got a feeling that Apple are going to have plenty of teething issues with their iPhone. They have zero GSM cellular experience, so unlike Nokia they don't have much to build upon. I just look at my Ipod and the amount of firmware updates I've had to apply, and that just plays music/videos, nothing like as complex as a convergence phone/PDA/MP3/Video player. Like I said before, I'm excited about iPhone v2.0.. not their first offering.

The iPhone. That said it all.

As far as I can see in reading reviews and descriptions, the iphone has one single advantage over the n95: a touchscreen/virtual keyboard. For typists like me, that's a plus.
In every other possible way the n95 beats it hands down, with twice the feature set.
Of course, a significant portion of the computing world thinks Apple is God. I get tired of that argument; I've listened to plenty of Apple devotees and their self-satisified, scathing critiques of anything not Apple, and I don't buy it. I once worked for a video company building Mac based video systems, and I had two of the world's most powerful macs on my desk, with fibre channel and massive hard drives and the whole works, real cutting edge stuff...
Plus a Pc and a Dell laptop.
I found the Apple pretty much the same as a PC, with plenty of crashes and failures and system problems... just a slicker interface.
Apple did a good job with the Ipod. Time will tell if the Iphone is truly a next-generational convergence product, like the N95 - or more shiny Apple hype.
Just my rant... sorry :)

What convergence? A phone, mp3 player and a 2 mpix camera? Yawn.
If it didn't say Apple on it, no one would give it the time of day. I'm sick of the blind apple following as well. Very tiring. Sure the iPod is great, sure the Mac has a great interface that is sure to be shared with the iPhone... but how far does that really get you?
As far as the onscreen virtual keyboard goes... I bet I beat the pants off of someone typing with one of those things vs. my N95. Oh, here's a neat feature that the N95 doesn't share with the iPhone- one handed text input. Seriously... wtf good is a mobile phone that you've gotta use two hands to do anything with? The whole "selling point" of no dedicated hardware buttons- give me a break. Sure that multitouch is cool stuff on a 30 inch screen- but how non-gimmicky and practical is it really going to be on the iPhone?
<sigh>
Ridiculous. Like I said- if it didn't say Apple and have a lower case "i" in front of the name... would it be discussed?
There's my rant. It's sure not to be the last one. ;) Y'all keep poking the bear with a stick... lol
I can't wait for this thing to come out... it better be SOLID. Not that crashes will make the fanboys settle down any.
