Whistle cured by changing screen
Anyone managed to cure a whistle by changing screen?
It is the screen causing the whistle, right?
EDIT: IT WORKED - READ ON :)

Almost did it on N95 number 3, but then I just went and got N95 number 4.
I think you're on the money though, it would be interesting to find out... Everyone's N95's still under warranty though so we'll probably be hard pressed to find someone this early in the piece!

Yup. If you press the back and front arount the casing (NOT on the LCD) you'll stop it. Hence the mods of packing out the LCD to squeeze it and stop the noise.
Also seems to stop in various slider configurations (ie 1/3 up full slide on mine stops noise too!)

salada2k - I will see if I am able to pluck up the courage ... watch this space!
gadgetman - Funnily enough, this seems to have worked but only to an extent. I am still interested in finding a permanent cure - whether that's to swap the screen or to mod it somehow.
Can you (or anyone) recall the url for the info about packing the screen as a fix for the whistle?
Cheers

Heart was in my mouth most of the time but ... about 20-30 mins doing it carefully!
TOTALLY silent now from all areas of the screen / phone :)

Is there soldering involved? Anything tricky? Is it just a careful disassembly, then the plugging in of connectors?
No video? No photos?
Tisk, tisk spyda. Now I'll have to issue you five demerits... such a shame.

Oh you have such little faith! No soldering no .... tricky, yes!
You had better think again about these demerits you're merrily dishing out pseudo.

Right, well then. I'll be glad to reduce it by two demerit and issue three more for back-talk.
