I'm assuming the music was purchased on the PC?

This is DMA protection. Check with your music store, as many allow you to activate additional devices which will solve the issue. Napster is one such service.

Please never buy music with DRM protection!

The longer people make that mistake the longer it will take to get it eventually removed.

DRM goes against everything we have been accustomed to.

You could record your tv shows, radio broadcasts, cassettes, albums and cd's. They are trying to take that away and they have no valid reason, other than they want to sell it to you again and again when you original is worn out.

The studios and music companies are already reimbursed for piracy when you buy blank media and recorders. It has been that way since the recordable cassette and was continued on to cd's and dvd's, PC's and their respective recording devices.

Send it back the MFG and tell them to take a hike. Buy the CD and rip it yourself or then download it it from somewhere else if you do not have the time.

I agree 100% ... You're buying a ready-crippled product, one beloved by the 'Music Industry', one that even after you've paid for it and think that you own it... They're still able to control what you do with it...

It's a massive con! Don't get sucked-in!

P.S. DaveW... LOVE the new avatar... ...I only regret that I didn't think of it first! hehe!

There are others out there...?

DRM is a complete waste of time. For the non-technical, it's a brick wall and a waste of money if you've got a device that aint on Napsters list (N95 wasn't last time I checked). For the technically minded among us, it's just so easy to get around, it's pointless.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for paying for music, and I'm dead against the peer2peers. My personal view is that there should be an electronic audit trail attached when you buy electronic music, held buy the retailer. If you ever get investigated/raided/whatever, there'll be a list somewhere of what you've purchased, you know, like when you buy stuff - A receipt!

If I wanted to steal music, there are a million ways I could do it. But I feel that DRM is a deterrent from legally buying music! I had a massice argument a few years ago with Virgin and eventually got them to see my way of thinking - to no avail however.

I buy all my music legally. And I play it on my N95.

I've heard, apparently, there this little program called SoundTaxi, i think...

Avoid downloading from Apple, Sony, and Microsoft as they are strict with DRM. There are some websites that offer pure MP3 downloads.

It was fun for a bit. I felt keeping it up past a laugh may have been rude.

...As the Bishop said to the Actress...

But yes, that's true, I suspect that not all were quite as highly amused by it as I was!

To avoid further demerits for Sp00k from a certain who shall obviously remain nameless (Shhh! it's Pseudo! ), Sp00k will now get

More, much more, on DRM restrictions here.
