Before sending N95 to Nokia Repair Center

I should probably change my product code from EURO-2 back to the original USA product code.

my question is, do I also have to downgrade the firmware version, or can I leave that the way it is? I have the latest firmware version on my phone.

Also, will changing the product code back to USA do anything harmful to my phone? Thanks.

1. Yes, I would change it back to what it states it is in the battery-compartment.

2. You'll find that you can't downgrade the firmware.

3. Changing the code back won't harm your phone in any way.

It's been rumoured there is an internal log of product code changes inside the N95... Although I don't like to spread FUD, it was reported on allaboutsymbian some time ago.

But don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Mmmmm! Don't know about 2. cos if you change you prod code the nokia updater will look for the latest firmware from your network operater and if that is earlier than the one you have you should be able to put that one one!
If you have the latest and your op has released the latest then it won't let you up/downdate!
If you change the code for an operater who has not released an update then you could change the code again back to your operater and do another update to their current firmware!
Anybody done this?

I hear what you're saying pa49 and I'm pleased to be able to inform you that, after a vote, you're the one who's been chosen to test the theory... I hope that you realise that this is a great honour!

Please let the panel know your results as soon as possible... Thank you.

I feel that I must mention however, that many firmware upgrades are irreversible and even some of those that are reversible carry a strong warning against doing it... Not all, admittedly and who knows, you may be lucky.

Thank you once again for your selfless endevours in order to further the advancement of knowledge... We salute you.
