N95 reboots during incoming calls

Hi,

Amongst the numerous bugs on my N95, 2 new unacceptable ones have occurred after installing newest software (V.12.0.013).

1. Incoming call fails
Everytime an incoming call is detected by phone it : wakes up from stand-by, shows caller information for a split second, then turns to "white screen" and reboots. The phone never rings or vibrates, it just reboots!!!

The same thing happens even if phone is not in stand-by, and no matter who the caller is.

2. Bluetooth unreliable
Since software upgrade BT has become unstable. Before, I used BT connection to my car stereo (Pioneer), which operated a handsfree headset.

Now, 2 out of 3 times, the phone does not transmit sound to the car deck. The car deck does pick up the call, but sound is not transmitted. If am lucky, I am able to switch between phone speaker and "Bluetooth" (headset)and suddenly the sound is transmitted after all.

Before you ask my to call Pioneer, I know for sure this is a N95 bug, because everything worked 100% until N95 firmware update, and car deck has never been update.

regards

Carsten

All I can suggest is to try a full format of the phone *#7370#. It will wipe everthing on the phone (settings, apps, messages, gallery) but nothing on your mem card.

Did you restore settings from a backup made under a previous firmware version? This has caused me problems on an N80 before.

Yes, I did restore from backup as Nokia recommended during firmware update wizard (V.12.0.013)

So you are saying I should run a "7340" and NOT restore anything
Does this mean I'll loose all contacts, email settings etc.

If you backed-up using PC Suite, you'll be able to choose what to restore... After using *#7370#, restore ONLY your contacts, nothing else!

Now check if it handles incoming calls ok... If it still doesn't, remove your memory-card and try it... There are more steps if needed... get back to us.

I'm afraid it is a pain. Its only settings that I think its best not to restore. I always use PC Suite to sync my contacts and calendar with my PC and back again after a firmware upgrade. Most connection settings can be sent in a text message from your Network Operator but email you may need to set up manually.

Do another backup and then try *#7370#. Then see if your problems are fixed. Restore everything and see if the problems come back. That will tell you where the problems are.

Thanks, appreciate all the help I can get, but what is "7370" ? A typing error for "7340".....or ?

BTW, does anyone have a link to complete list of all command codes like : *#0000#, *#7340#.....etc.?

Just thought I'll share the solution to the Incoming call problem with you guys.

Nokia suggested this and it helped :
"You need to go into menu -> tools -> profiles and under normal profile you need to disable the function called "say caller name" to stop the phone from crashing on incoming calls"

It turned out that is was the phone trying to say the name of incoming callers, which caused the crashes. Thinking, back I've also experienced phone hanging whenever trying to use the "voice assissted dialing" as well.

Seems like the "voice" thing is even more unreliable than the rest of N95 features

Cheers! That's handy to know... Though I've never experienced any problems at all when using 'Voice-Dialling'.
