Version 12 Firmware Update

Hi All, I was wondering if one of you can help me. After reading lots of threads I see that version 12 firmware is available for the N95. I recently got mine from Vodafone so I decided to upgrade to the new firmware so I could use the new A-GPS. However, after downloading and running the Nokia Software Updater and running it, it says my firmware version is 11.0.026 and the update is exactly the same version!! Can anyone explain why this is the case and give me any help in installing the latest firmware version

Many thanks for any help

Do you have a branded phone or did you buy it SIM free? I would have thought the v12 update was available to everybody now, but it sounds like you need to change your product code if you want the v12 update.

You'll have to search around (on n95users.com) for the many and various threads that advise you how to change your product code (if your current one is one that does not have the update enabled) to something like the EURO-1 code, at which point NSU will give you the v12 update.

Good luck, and welcome to the forums. :)

salada2k is correct in that your vodafone handset is branded, so you have the highest branded frimware available.

You could debrand, however salada2k failed to mention that this has warranty and operator handset insurance implications should you do this.

Many thanks Salada2K, I have a Vodafone (UK) branded N95. Do I need to remember the product before changing it so I can change it back after the update?
Many thanks again and thank you for your welcome - This is an excellent forum with a wealth of knowledge :-)

its best to remember the product code just in case you want to change it back.

but be warned.. doing so voids ur phone's warranty..

Just change it back to the original code after you have installed the newest generic firmware.
