Upgrading firmware is locked to vendor

Hi all,

I have an interesting one. I am the owner of two N95 handsets. I bought the first direct from Nokia and got the second when I recently switched vendor - I went to 3 Australia. The 3 firmware sucks and so I wanted to replace it with the basic Nokia firmware. I performed a test on the latest Nokia firmware (20.x.x.x) on the 3 network and it works a treat but when I attempted to upgrade the 3 firmware it tells me that the latest option is still 12.x.x.x which is the 3 implementation and re-installs the 3 firmware!! ARGH!!

The question is therefore is there anyway that I can unlock this handset from the 3 firmware so that I can install the Nokia 20.x.x.x? This procedure is obviously different from the basic unlock code that allows use on any network as I have already done this by entering the code provided by 3.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Yes you can do it- just change a the product code first a verrrrrrrrry easy process. You need to use a program NSS which you will find more details in the New firmware thread (huge thread on the 1st page.....I had to ask the same question in the 1st few pages....
