Ok so here's an update to critique. needs more but this is where I'm at so far. I have a master copy in word so it doesn't get lost. Any suggestions put them in here and once we get a good consensus we can ask a mod to make this more visible i.e. sticky it somewhere.
Description:
There are a couple versions of the
N95 so to keep them straight here’s a brief explanation of them.
The information listed directly below can be looked up by typing *#0000# on the standby screen.
N95-1 is the original
N95 and it is easy to spot because it has the manual camera lens cover on it. This is also known as the Rm-159. The latest Firm Ware available for it is Version 20.0.015 referred to as V20 on the forum. This model does not support the US 3G frequency.
N95-2 which is commonly referred to as the
N95 8 gig as it has 8 gigs of internal memory. This is also known as the RM-320 and the latest FW available is 15.0.015. This one is noticeable by the slightly larger screen.
N95-3 is the latest
N95 and supports the US 3G frequency. This is known as the RM-160. The main difference between this and the -1 is the support of US 3G and the more RAM. The latest FW available if Version 11.2.009. However read here before getting it
N95-3 Firmware "Update" available... don't bother!
There is also the
N95-5 which is sold in Japan. This handset is the same as the
N95-1 except it does not support WiFi. The latest FW version is ???

There is a vast amount of helpful people with large amounts of knowledge so if you can’t find what you near hear then use the Search at the top. Try using * at the end of what you are searching for if you can’t find it. After this feel free to ask.
When asking a question about a problem it is very useful to include your device version -1,-2,-3 and your FW version number. Other helpful info is your location and your carrier.
There’s a Thanks button at the bottom right of each persons post, if you appreciate the help then use this button
Thanks to Mr G the man of a million themes we have one of the most extensive collections of themes I’ve seen around. Check out our theme section often as Mr G uploads many almost daily.
Do not, I repeat do NOT post any threads about the IPhone on here. This is the N95users because we chose the
N95 over everything else for many reasons and IPhone threads will go nowhere quickly. There is a couple threads trying to compare them already and check them out if you really want to.

Nokia PC suite common issues
There’s a lot of issues relating to PC suite and connecting the
N95 to your computer. Some of the common things to try if you are having issues are
Plug the USB cable into a different port and try again.
Restart the phone and PC
Uninstall PC suite and ensure that all the Nokia files are removed from the computer then reinstall the latest version.
Bluetooth stuff needed here……..
There is a version of PC suite for the NSeries specifically but it’s been reported that it doesn’t work as good as the standard PC suite.
GPS problems
If you are having problems with your GPS the first thing to try is opening up the slider and setting the phone on a window sill or outside on a 45 degree angle and allow the GPS to get a lock. If this is the first time this may take a while. After this it should get a lock quickly every time.
Newer versions of the FWs have assisted GPS listed as aGPS and it is suggested that you turn this on. aGPS uses the cell tower information to estimate your location and helps the internal GPS get a lock quicker.
Certificates and Application signing.
To start off this is a lot easier than people make it out to be and once you do the initial set up for signing apps you will be able to sign as many and as often as your heart desires. It is worth taking the time to go through the process and learn to do it yourself.
Why am I getting "Certificate Error" when I try and install something?
Accelerometer
The Nokia
N95 has a 3d accelerometer built in. This is a hardware device that senses movement of the phone on more than 1 axis. For example with a program called Rotate Me
RotateMe 2.0 Betas by Samir . This application will automatically turn the screen to landscape mode when the phone is turned onto its side.
