N95 8GB...forgive me...but why?

Ok so I'm struggling here. Struggling to see what all the fuss is about. Struggling to think of any reason why I'd need or even want to trade my N95 in for the N95 8GB?

The differences AFAIK are:

1) Built in 8GB
2) Longer Lasting Battery
3) More RAM
4) Its black

Breaking those down.

1) More of a hinderance to me then a bonus. You're giving up the ability to expand your memory, with 12GB and 16GB cards coming out soon, for what will be a measly 8GB by then. Don't see the logic personally.

2) Longer lasting battery. Great! Shame they had to change the appearance of the phone just to fit the battery in. Ok its only gained 1mm and 9g but altered the appearance none the less. 65hrs more Standby and 1.5hrs more talk time is nice, but unless you use your phone for making calls loads, is it really going to be an issue?

3) Only genuine reason why I'd personally upgrade, and its not enough to make me upgrade. Can't justify it on one reason alone.

4) Black is nice. We all like black. Still not a good justifiable reason to upgrade IMO.

By the way, this is not a pop at the N95 8GB. If you've got one and its your first N95, you've made an awesome choice. I just can't see the logic in chopping in a N95 for the 8GB.

Am I seriously missing something here?

Discuss lol

Well, you didn't mention the relatively easily scratched camera lens or the fact that transferring data to/from the inbuilt 8GB has been estimated to be up to five times slower than transferring by using a card-reader... ;)

...or the bigger screen!

Pre-V20 was definitely time for a ponder, but now there's really not enough reason to upgrade.

But did someone mention that it's black?!

Well, i had my N95-1 for 7 months and got my N95 8GB like 2 months ago...or a bit more lol.
To tell you the truth, when i first got my 8GB version i was like...'WOW', (not that enthusiastically lol), mainly because of it's looks and display.
But like a week into it, it never felt special again, i know it's display is like 0.2 inches bigger and it's in black but these 'differences' aren't really differences at all. That's why they don't win over each other, i would be slightly inclined to my N95-1 but i love them both.

Woops, i meant to quote Logan's reply not Psood21's, sorry.

I'm not really pointing out the cons, as I say, if you've bought an N95 8GB and its your first N95, then its a wise choice and a good phone. All I was doing was trying to work out, or justify whether it was worth the upgrade.

That got me thinking on it, then I did a comparison, and the results were the content of my first post :P

I just wanted to put it in writing and hear other peoples opinions and justifications, if they were looking to upgrade and why?

i have both phones but i use the 8gb and i will be using the n95-1 later with another sim card. when i got the 8gb you can really tell the difference with the screen. i also like the look of it. not having a cover on the lens doesn't bother me. but, not being able to take out the memory card sucks because transferring is really slow. most of the time i use wifi so the battery is a plus for me. not getting problem with the memory is also very nice :D

the only plus in my opinion is the bigger screen

dont care about batt or 8gb or black color
batt I charge every day even if its not totally uncharged, I prefer n95-1 colors and I prefer 8gb card than 8gb built in

If you read the OP more carefully you may see that the Pros & Cons being discussed were the Pros & Cons of upgrading, it wasn't a disparagement of the 8GB version.

Unfortunately IMO when Nokia 'improved' the classic N95, they gave with one hand and took away with the other... leaving the 8GB version with both good and bad points compared to the N95-1.

As Gordonshowers has said, once the latest firmware was installed in the classic, a lot of the previously-seen advantages of the 8GB model vanished, leaving much less reason to upgrade to it for current N95-owners.

spook my point was something different then your interpretation..what i meant was that many of the users here have 8gig version and after reading this they might feel that what is the use of upgrading and spending around 600$'s if there is nothing substantial in the 8gig version,....neways i meant no offense...nd feel sorry if you guys didnt like my post...
