does firmware update hard reset the phone ?
I want to know if I update my firmware, would it hard reset my phone in the process of updating.

Yes..Format phone as if it was out of the box.Though a new FW.

Sure, but things are changing lately there are bunch of UDP enabled phones out there and UDP could be implemented on his phone as well ;)

UDP has been on our phones for quite some time now. The N82 is almost a sure sign that this is getting implemented into the NSeries at least
