Annoying menus on main screen

Is there anyway of removing the annoying menus on the main screen, so there is just the wallpaper, network name, time date etc on there. All i want is them, then use the menu button to access the rest. I hope i haave explained what i mean ok, cant think of any other way of describing it

Disable active standby in personalization

Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> General -> Personalisation -> Standby mode -> Active standby -> Off

Many Thanks, i still cant send texts or recieve them. Been onto orange, but no joy. Its bugging the life out of me now.

Gonna do that shortly. Also, sorry to be a pain guys, but ive noticed a 2 second delay when i slide the front down before the keylock goes on, is there a way of changing the delay so it is instant, or is this just normal?

This is normal - It allows you to press a key or two to stop the activation of the keylock if you want to continue using the phone
