***Updated 8th August 2008***
Since we have so many people asking what the current state of play is, I thought Id post this and keep it updated. Its deliberatly not giving any sort of opinion on the various packages, that can be found in many other threads.
This is a full list of satnav packages for Symbian S60V3 phones, excluding software which only downloads maps over the air (Amaze etc).
For as long as Im on the forum, I'll keep this as up to date as possible.
Tomtom - Works on seemingly all S60V3 phones, but is not supported. Nor does it use any internal GPS on Nokias.
There may be something on the horizon, more when I find out.
Nokia maps 2.0 - Released as a finished application.
Garmin - Have a fully working, fully supported bit of software. It has recently had an update which fixed a bug.
However they do not support the
N95 8GB, as the program is locked to card, and therefore you cannot legally get it on a phone without a card slot.
An over the air version is being released, and also a new version of XT with new interface. ETA September
Navigon - Have a fully working version which supports the internal GPS. Has not been an update for a while however.
Copilot - Version 7 for symbian is released now. It will take time to filter through to the stores (Amazon etc). Be aware that its now one version for both WM and Symbian. But the WM only versions will continue to be around for a while, so make sure which your buying.
Navicore (now rebranded Wayfinder) - The online version (over the air maps) available. The onboard (maps included, no need to download over the air) still not available. The onboard version will retail at 79 Euros for Europe.
Still no word on the new onboard version, now overdue.
Route66 - Have released version 8, which obviously works with the internal GPS. They support most S60V3 phones. Version 7 is also compatible with internal GPS.
Sygic - Has been released under the name of McGuider.
