Display light time-out setting whilst using GPS

Hello everyone!

N95 newbie here looking for some assistance from the pros! I can't figure out how to stop the display light from timing out and going off in the middle of a GPS nav session. It's "driving" me crazy! The navigation will basically pause until I hit a button to "wake" the phone up again (which is no good when you don't know where the heck you're going).

I noticed in the settings there's only an option for 5-60 seconds until the screen times out. Is there a way to keep the screen on? (By the way, I'm using Amaze navi and there's no setting there either to keep the screen on.)

Please help! I apologize is this has been discussed, but I've search for two days and can't find anything on this topic.

Thanks

Yeah, I used it a couple times, but the reason I switched to Amaze is they don't charge at all for voice navigation. Nokia Maps hits you for roughly $150 for a year subscription to voice nav. Ouch!

As well as S60SpotOn I would also recommend SmartLight (best one IMO, although not free) or Lights On (which is great especially of you connect you N95 to the chatger whilst driving..)

It does but you do need to activate in the settings so no need for third party app's to keep the light on cjacks & Kruisler ;-)

And i find it very good to use too

Mr G,

Yeah I knew about the setting in Nokia Maps..I used that before getting hold of the other apps...
I use smartlight so that the screen stays on during mp3 playback mainly, and LightsOn so that screen stays illuminated when the phone is on my desktop cradle... All offer a "stay on" setting but I am trying to avoid having to go back to the apps everytime, so between smartlight and lightson I cover everything "automatically"...I think! ;-)

If you'll upgrade your n95 firmware to the latest version (v. 20 and up), then the light time out issue will be solved without the need to use the S60Spot. Nokia fixed this bug in the new firmware and it applies to amAze as well.
You can do this upgrade from here: Nokia Europe - Device software update - Support

I've always had the choice in options to keep the backlight on whilst using GPS....so i'm a bit puzzled with all this really as that option was there when i got the handset on v.10 FW.
