Fixing problem with early version of Maps
Hi all,
This might be of interest to others as I couldn't find anything really related to this apart from the mention of the cities folder...
It may also be a way of messing up your phone, so I thought I'd see what other people might say....
Basically, I have V11 firmware and installed the later version of Maps about 6 months ago. Hated the tracking feature not being there so did a hard reset to get the old version back. Worked ok but when going to Search -> By Category it would restart the phone.
I deleted the folder E:\Cities, it still happened. Took my memory card out and reset my phone and it was working again...
I had formatted the memory card and put everything back on it the way it was before (too lazy to reinstall all the apps again). The problem came back. Figuring it was the memory card I experimented with the lovely 'sys', 'system', 'resource' and 'private' folders...
I deleted a file called 'QF' on the root of E: and then started deleting the contents of the following folder:
E:\Private\20001f63
I tried maps and it loaded a bit quicker and I could search on categories again...
I guess something in there had got corrupted but would it be safe to delete the folder itself?
I also noted that the landmarks were still there when the memory card was removed?
